Ahhhh, 4.30am & ive been up for a few hours now trawling the net for some spring setup advice, to no real avail at all.Tried contacting a few unnamed people & they seem to not want to share their setup info, fair enough i suppose, hopefully they might contribute here.

Im sussy n00b,so please bare with me & hopefully some of u track experts can help me out.

I know,i know,i should be looking at sway setup first, but i just happened upon a cheap spring setup, which will help me ,1 - lift the nose of my car off the ground a bit & stop smashing up my headers,& 2 - replace the shit springs in the car atm.

ATM,the car rides on what look to be Kmac(im guessing cos they are orange springs),the front look slightly progressive & the rear are linear. They both appear to be similar rates also, front & rear, from what i can make out trying to compare them both.

The car now, with extra 40-50 odd kg worth of engine up front(plus A/C & power steer),obviously plows into corners with over eager entry but gets very light in the tail once settled into the corner & accelerating.

The new springs i got are 8k linear fronts & i wont tell u what the rears are, lol, but lets just say i might use them at the strip on the odd occassion & drive carefully out there so i dont kill my stock valved konis.
8k was about what i wanted at the front(for a street/track compromise),so the deal worked out alright,i realise 8k is a bit hardcore for the street, but im willing to live with it & only venture beyond on known good & flat surfaces free of pothole, expansion joints, etc.
Dont much like bumpy corners anyway, personally.

The problem i'm having is where do i go with the rear?

My guess is an 8k rear as well for the street/track compromise, maybe even get a set of 10k rears also & just throw them on for track days?

How far off am i,am i even in the ballpark with my thinking on trying to setup my nose heavy, short wheelbase crap?

Up to 10k is fine with the koni yellows..
maybe 6k rear for street? + sway bar upgrade

yeah, your right,u can even push the stock valved yellow sports out to 11k if your game.

i really want to keep it neutral to oversteer if possible,so ive just ordered a set of 8k rears & i'll start from there on my n00b adventures.

the problem is a bit of plowing in the front on turn in & a mass of lift off over, under any degree of turning, thats whats confusing the hell out of me.

Out of interest where do you order your springs from?
I also get plowing and am having issues finding correct springs/rates
Thinking about changing front sway back to stock from whiteline.

Im using ground control sleeves,so Eibach ERS springs.

They are $59US each on ground control website.

i was about to say 6k rears. But if you want oversteer should of went 10k.

yeah thats what i was thinking jimmy,it skips out nice & controllably mid corner atm,but the massive amounts of lift off oversteer positively scares the shit out of me so i went the compromise & settled for 8k.

If i make this trackday coming, dont get too close behind me into turn 2 or u'll find out what im talking about,i'll prob be going backwards into there all day long, lol.

LOL cool. I have 10k rear and 8k front in my swift setup. Handles pretty well when the shocks arnt busted hahaha.

As for EG we have it 8k rear and 12k front.

Thanx for the info man,i suppose i could get a bit of an idea out of the comparable short wheelbase of the swift,Even though the swift has a completley different sussy setup.but i was looking at my car directly lined up with bens EG last time at WSID & couldnt believe how much longer the wheelbase is in the EG.

Yeah the Swift uses a macpherson sussy.

I know,i used to own one,not the ideal setup, but u seem to be makin it work ok,damn fun little car it was, wish i gave it a bit more time, pity about the fragile little gearboxes though

not ideal? how so? im proving some times with it with such little power. As for gearbox, no issues here. 80 000km on the same box and no problems.

like i said ur making it work quite well, but its not quite up to double wishbone friendliness.

i went through 2 gearboxes in 150k,& its a well known fact that they are highly fragile, everybody gets disapointed that the gearboxes dont live up to the toughness of the mighty little G13B.But definitely good fortune to u.
