Ok this is retarded but I need some serious feed back.

I have a stock d16 and was thinking about putting a turbo on it just to say its turbo. " I know, that's gay"
What I need to know is if I can bolt a turbo kit with minimal boost, would I still need to change/reprogram the ecu, change injectors or change any internals?

I'm not trying to get any hp gain or anything like, just make it fun.

Oh yeah, would gas milage be effected a lot?

I know this sounds retarded/pointless but I thought it would be something fun to do, please no flamming

trying my hardest not to flame.

get a greedy turbo kit, dont change any parts of it, just throw all the parts on. it will have its on piggy back to handle the parts of the kit. some kits come with injectors some dont, if they dont its cuase they dont need them. internals.... no stock will be fine.

ps even with just the base greedy kit u will probable hit around the 100kw's mark. u cant just throw a turbo on and not feel it, doesnt work that way, they are built to give u more power after all. still as soon as u put it on u will want to go faster anyway.. always happens

just put a front mount on so people think u have a turbo

I know that the turbo is going to add hp regardless, but its not the reason I want it. The kit sounds good because I don't want to give up reliability and a/c cause its facking hot over here.

Building my own setup would be cheaper but, I don't know how long it would take to set and install everything properly.

I think if I build my own kit I will end up with more boost than needed. I've rode in some b20 civics pushing 30psi, and its great but its harder to tune and maintain.

I want to have fun with it and build a proper setup and not be driving a ticking time bomb.

I really want to get my feet wet on the whole turbo thing so I can build a solid set up for my next car *Acura TL* without blowing the motor.

LOL, That fake turbo thing is just plain gay

Lol, nah I really want the bov to make fun of my friends with sti,wrx and evo's. Cause every time I drive with them they have to make SURE that everybody is aware that there car has a turbo.
*spooooooling, BOV*

Just go for the greddy bolt-on kit then.
Pretty hassle free for you..

As opposed to the reason that you gave for wanting to turbo your car!

lol

get a greddy bolt-on with ECU. You basically bolt it on and the ECU they give you is pre-tuned

All you need extra is the BOV & intercooler.

go greddy kit mate, sounds like the best fit for ur kinda scenario. u dnt really need to touch any internals and 5psi is more den enough to make the bov go off for ur liking. dont need to touch fueling either including the ecu coz it comes with a management as well. i wouldnt be suprised if u got more mileage out of ur tank. its a good build up kit and as u get tired of lame power and turbo noise u'll fall into the deep side :P thats were u start rippin a whole in ur pocket to beat ur mates 40grand cars haha . good luck =] u'll enjoy and learn heaps

fuel will always go up with turbo. Its just a fact of turbo.
With the Greddy kit its a pretty small turbo so you'll be hitting boost most of the time anyway, and that's when your fuel bill goes up.

I had to stop driving around abit cos i can't afford fuel now ;)

Anyway, my NA mods use to take just as much as it does withthe turbo now also

Yeah

I can drive round staying out of boost most of the time if I try

Just get a turbo badge and stick it to the back of the car.
Then one of those fake blow off valve whistles...

Just don't lift your bonnet for anyone.

LOL, that would be funny. I want to actually put a turbo on without any badges .

Ok so is the milage going to suffer or improve with that little amount of boost?

I was looking around and the greddy kit looks good. Also, I was doing some reserch for a custom built and this is what I found out:
MUST HAVE: Cast iron manifold/turbo

Mandrel bent piping

RECOMENDED:

BOV, any will be ok

Intercooler has to be narrow and thick cause of the stock bumper, to fit properly

Turbo timer

Recomended flexible metal oil lines

Premium gas

This are some of the things I noticed and wanted to know if they are correct.

theres quite a few cheaper turbo kits on Honda-Tech that you could pick up. what ull need other then the turbo kit is:
Injectors
ECU
Fuel Pump
Intercooler & Piping (if not included in kit)
Vacuum hoses (if not included)
other then that there should be everything included to bolt straight on.
Have a look at the Forced Induction section on Honda-Tech and ull find all the answers :D

Greddy kit, mine was $1400AUS landed here. No more to pay, dont need FMIC dont need BOV nothing.

Honestly, i dont see why u cant get a EG turbo setup. Only thing i can thing of that might be diffrent is the exhaust, even then its a $50 fix at any shop
