93 integra LS problems ?

hey all ,

i've got a 93 integra LS auto and recently what's been happening is when i've been driving and pull up somewhere i put the transmission into the park position and next thing, the car will start revving?

rev's then drops rev's then drops from once to even 4 times before it then realises its in park and goes quieter and the light on the dash lights up ( P )

anyone had this problem or got any ideas what it might be ?

follow one of the ECU diagnosis procedures in the DIY section & once u short out the SCS connector & turn the ignition on ,see if any of the auto indicator lights on the cluster flash codes at u,Think its like the D4 light on later tegs,some other cars even have a dedicated light for troubleshooting.

hopefully that will lead u right to the source.

have any of the above mentioned lights come on during driving other than being in that particular gear obviously?

its only when i put the car into park like when i've stopped in my driveway and am about to turn off the car for example. at first i freaked out thinking transmission? but i honestly have no idea.

could it be a wiring problem possibly ?

everything else is fine, when driving nothing happens.not when i just stop with the brakes only when i move the shifter into the park position will it do this.

could be wiring,could be the control unit,could be a sensor,im no auto tranny specialist by any means,but a quick test as i mentioned above could possibly lead u straight to the problem.

like mentioned do a ECU Test. there is a thread somewhere that shows u how do one.

if your dash light doesnt flash u might have an older ECU
u are gonna have to remove/lift the passenger side carpet and the ECU is right there it has a little red light just count the beeps and get the right code.
