any tips on removing the rear spoiler of a DC5 Luxury? it is just bolts underneath it and just unscrew them with a ratchet? i'll be putting the spoiler back on eventually. i know there are holes which i'll be covering up with some duct tape for the time being/.

that wing, not a typeR one

tie one end of a rope to the spoiler, and the other end to a tree, then floor it

yeh, just unbolt the screws, and take it off, pretty simple.
if u have trouble breaking the bond from the boot lid and wing, use a knife to cut thru the sticky shit, you'll know what i mean once u try to take it off lol

it'll most likely leave behind residue, i stood there with a hairdryer warming it up and rubbing it off with my thumb... prob no the best idea, copped a massive blister... use wax and grease remover =] i used it and works a charm.

the holes, just use rubber gomments from super cheap / repco whatever.

You will have bubbling and rust under the wing, so unless your going to replace it, its not going to look 100%.

It's only 4 screws under the boot lid, and i believe 6mm sealed grommets will fill the gap, or just some silver electrical tape.

i will probably take the wing off as i'm getting my bootlid resprayed thats all.

spoiler will be returned back on the car (probably) when respray is done

why not get them to weld the holes and leave it spoilerless?

i think the no spoiler option is the way to go, but if you're going to put it back on after why not just let them do all that when they respray it?

if you do it yourself though, i removed the same spoiler from my car and it came straight off without need to use fishing wire or anything.

how much would it cost to weld up the wholes in the bootlid after i've removed the spoiler? 4 small hoes, each about the size of 5c pieces.

took off the spoiler today, no need for fishing wire, 4 bolts and thats it

cleaned off some dirt and residue underneath the bolts and thats it

you dont weld em mate , i no afew people who have done this , u fill the holes with bog filler and sand it down so its flush with the boot , then you have to respray ur bootlid

welding is the better option, bog is likely to sink down the track a bit. if the cost of welding them up is a problem, get some rubber grommets, there's only 4 holes so in the end you have 4 black dots and it still looks pretty tidy.
