View Full Version : my 2000 s2k burning engine oil!!**
hey guys
noticed that my 2000 s2000 with 107,000klms on the clock is burning up the engine oil!
im using the mobile fully senthetic 10-30....in the time i did 4000klms it burnt up like 2L!
whats wrong?....oil too thin or the rings f*cked on it?
mods are: xforce headers, full remus system and k&n cai.

Some S2000 burn oil, it's just one of the common problems.
My friend 2001 s2000 burns oil as you can actually see the car blowing white smokes when pulling.
I think KrankVents could cure the problem but I'm not too sure about it as mine has no issue with burning oil.

my 02 needs a top up every few fill ups at the servo
but by top up i mean for 5000km i use up whatevers remaining in the bottle of oil that i bought. less than 1L total
2L is quite a bit of oil from 4000kms. I can suggest you use a 10-40 oil and see if that helps

I'm using Mobil 1 5w30 and my oil level is always at the top X. It never burns oil, the oil just turns black after a while :D

In the US, Honda's limit for oil consumption is 1L/1000km. So he is still at 1/2 the limit. :)

definitly change to a thinker oil. i was burning 1lt per 1000km with honda FEO now ive switched to 10W40 and it has not burnt a drop in 1000km and i dont think it will until the 5000km oil change. :D so very happy.
and to dvs-s2k i used to use mobil1 in my integ and it never burnt a drop either... what cars do you put it in generally? first bad thing i ever heard about mobil1.

i've heard bad things about mobil 1 for a while mainly in turbocharged cars (s2k is my first na) not only oil consumption but burning/ blackening of the oil. Not sure wot exactly it is about the oil but have heard alot from people in the trade not to use it. I personally only use motul and ive never had any problems.

I'm having difficulty finding an affordable synthetic 10w-40. The only one I've come across so far is the Motul 300V at about $125 for 5 litres. Just wondering which 10w40 you're using.

You can use Motul 8100 5W-40, Castrol Edge 0w-40 or Elf Excellium GP 5w-40.
