Hi All, im in the process of buying an EM1 and the one im interested in has high k's - 150,000ks. I am getting it for a good price but im just concerned on the reliability of the b16a when the engine reaches this many kms, I dont know a real lot about hondas so I thought I would raise the question. I just dont want to buy it and find im constantly spending money fixing things up.

Do people start coming across many problems when their b16a when the engine goes over 150,000?

What are the common issues? oil leaks?

It has a full service history and timing belt has been done. I am also getting a complete inspection before purchase.

Thanks heaps

150k isnt that high, it can easily clock alot higher with little maintanence.
then again it really comes down to how well the engine was taken care of, serviced regularly?
since you even getting an inspection they will list the issues, but yeh 150k isnt that high

yeah well thats it do a full inspection check that the timing belt and blah blah has beeen changed and service records are correct..................if so mate i doubt you will have a problem, HONDA is prob the most reliable engines so i would say if you would buy something with high km's make sure its honda
Also b16a2 is a good motor............:p

Kleo, have you had any major issues/faults with it?

I bought my EM1 on the weekend, had it inspected by state roads and all is good. No leaks or anything like that.

There is an annoying rattle in the cabin from the rear left suspension which is driving me absolutely crazy though!!

Had my EM1 for over a year 163k or so on the clock and still puts 101Kw to the front wheels with full metal cat and 2.15" cat back and short ram intake and Royal Purpule engine oil.... B16a2 KICKS ASS! about to put in a B18c JDM type R engine.

keep it maintained and you'll be able to thrash it for another 100K k's

Keep it maintained and it will run for another 200k's

My car atm is on 26XXXXk's and doesnt miss a bit (sure could use a tune up but thats it)

I know i can still get another 100,000k's out of her

Honda's are reliable

If the car isnt beat on at a constant rate then it should be fine

my b16a2 has 230xxx on the clock and its still goin strong, but yeh first things to go are probly the gearbox syncros, mine are gone....
i would regularly service the gearbox ie change the oil so the gears stay well lubbed:p
