Anybody know how to remove the key barrel?

Hey guys,

I want to remove the key barrel off my civic and put in an integra type R barrel just so i can use the cool key.

Anybody know how to remove it?

Its like 2 bolt/stud things but with no hex pattern or anything.

I know i could put a notch in it and hammer it out with a screwdriver or something, but i don't even know if its threaded or not.

what crxer said, you have to cut it off. Alternatively get the whole steering arm assembly out of the integra and put that on, but a bit too much work just so you can use the cool key, and even than the cool key won't be any good for your door/boot locks

Yeah i'll need 2 keys...

but if i use a cut off wheel to just cut off the top i'll still need to get the threaded part of the bolt out with one of those reverse thread drill bits and then stick in another bolt...

Just wondering if there's an easy way.

U can always just drill out the shear bolts,not quite as quick as the grinder but not that difficult,just give em a good centre punch first to stop the drill wandering.

get new shear bolts as well,make ur car a little less easy to steal.

Damn i never knew what shear bolts are...but a quick google and i've learnt something new.
