I have an odd oil pressure issue that i need to figure out. About 6 months ago, i installed a b18b into my integra ls. I also installed an oil pressure gauge at the same time. Now the motor has only done 15,000 kms (was a brand new crate motor). I have been running nulon 10w40 synthetic since the swap, and i never really took any notice of the high oil pressures, it has been running at 50psi @ idle and peaks at 100psi at red line. Now i looked through a book at work and the ideal oil pressure @ 3000rpm should be about 45-50psi. So i thought i would switch oil to a thinner grade to possibly fix the problem. I changed the oil today with Castrol edge 5w30, and its dropped about 5psi, and peaks at about 95psi now.

Im runing a autometer sport comp electric oil pressure gauge.. So what could the problem be? And is it bad to have high oil pressure? I just want to figure this out before major problems start appearing

Did you plumb your oil pressure sender before or after the oil filter? (assuming you are using a sandwich plate)

I should have said, im using a vdo oil pressure sender adaptor that fits into the original oil pressure sender location

Autometer gauge and VDO sender. Are you sure they are compatible and giving you correct readings?

Max pressure on a stock motor is 75-80psi. I really don't think a max of 95psi will cause you any problems.

im seeing 90-95 max on my tightarse $30 gauge but also 15-20 at idle,so who knows........

but i have noticed a few small oil leaks of late appearing around the vtec solenoid, could be just old age &/or my lack of maintenance

also didnt make a difference to the results whether the sender was placed before or after the oil filter.

you should use pertamina fluids.
