Hi All,

In the market for an heavy duty clutch and flywheel.

Been looking at the ORC 309 Clutch Kit both silent and noisy type.

Before i make a decision on which one to buy, can anyone provide feedback on the noisy type vs the silent type? or even better, if you live in Syd and have the noisy installed, could we meet up so i can have a listen. Even a sound file may help.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Chris

its not all that bad...........i have one in my dc2r and my mate has one in his s15

mine is louder coz gear box is in the engine bay (front wheel drive), compaered to the s15 which is in the tunel under the car, but its only noisy when you engage the clutch.........personally i like the noisy one, thats why i got one............

as above

the noise isnt that bad ( but noticable ). you only get the noise when you have your foot on the clutch. sounds awsome when your giving it the beans, press the clutch at 9k to shift gears and you get a quick Grrrr from the clutch while your pressing it. Also get it when your at the ligths and press the clutch to take off.

performance wise they are awsome. one of the better aftermarket clutches around.

again, its my opinion that the noise is mad................people who dont know bout them think your car is Farked..........and people who know about them really appreciate them.................

Yeh, they are great clutches. The silent one is also noisy a bit when clutch is disengaged. Its because they have an extra plate inside which when disengaged vibrates around a bit. The silent one has springs to push the plate away to decrease plate vibration and therfore noise.

Is there a difference in performance and longevity?

Is there a difference in performance and longevity?

if this question is relating to noisy one or non noisy one,
then NO, there is no difference in performance or life span...........

Yeh, the ORC was slipping in my car when I dumpped it gear to gear. Its still a great clutch, just not for my application.

The new clutch is awsome. Shudders a little on take off, pedel is a little stiffer.

don't think 409 actually make anything for honda...

Nup, they only make the one type for each honda, well at least for the DC2R. The only choice is silent or noisy.

ORC clutches are cheap. Can be had for 900-1000 odd. Cant really beat it with that price.

DLO01

Yeh, they are a good price. My current setup was $840 aud delivered, complete clutch kit and lightweight flywheel from the US. Also much bigger range to choose from to suit your own specific application.

different grab , different pedal feeling , different response.

Im still running exedy sports organic with jdm k20a flywheel. They are doing a good job for me.

Digging up an old thread...but I felt and heard my ORC for the first time on wednesday, feels great, the sound will take some getting used to. I can see how some people not in the know would think your car has serious issues hearing when u press the clutch in.

yeh same, I have litterally only driven it twice, and it was only for about 30 minutes each time. (yet to hit the dyno, so not exactly running 100%) So I am still pretty hopeless. give me a week or so and It should be right though

It is a lot more solid than what I have been using for the last six months haha stock proton clutch...
