Is it worth spending a little bit more to get a 7th gen civic, like is there less problems, btw this isn't for me, just someone who needs a practical reliable car, like he doesn't want to modify it and vtec isn't a big deal for him.

both 6th gen and 7th gen are made in japan, its 8th gen that is made in thailand.
I think for a daily driver a 7th gen is perfect, iv had the 7th gen sedan before, apart from finding the seats alittle uncomfortable it was a great car. btw iv noticed the resale value of the 7th gen is pretty crap compared to the resale value held by the 5th and 6th gen civics.

Actually the 7th gen sedan is made in thailand too, still very nicely built.

Unless it is a Hybrid then you are driving a Thai built car. Civic 4DR was built in Thailand since 2002 and all 5DR's and Hybrids came out of Japan

Oil pump failure is starting to be a common issue with the es/eu civic. All drive is lost. Problem rectified around 04 cheapest fix a second hand 04 ES trans from the wreckers as renewing oil pump and burnt clutches will be costly.

I wont get to into this topic but be assured that all 02 modelled onwards ES civics delivered to AU came out of Thai factory's. Check your vin no. as if built in Japan then the 17 digit vin will first indicate J. Thailand = M. Canada = 2. USA = 1. UK = S. These are the 5 main suppliers and fabricators for Honda Australia.

ok i just checked my VIN, it says MRHES...

so i suppose you are right, it is made in Thailand?

geez all this time i thought it was Jap, but the quality of the car is that good it seems like its assembled in Japan!

my apologies, you are correct.

back to the original post, well it depends on what the buyer wants and obviously how much $ they have to spend

the 7th gen will be a newer car
the 6th gen EK was very popular, still heaps on the road and more body styles - hatch, sedan, coupe

if you are just planning to leave it stock then i would say get the 7th gen
but of course i would say that cause i own one :D
