I can just hear the laughs lol actually it is kinda funny but just a thought imagine having LPG installed in your car since petrol prices are going up over the roof...
Apparently guys with xr6, skylines are going with something called a liquid injection LPG system apparently gives more power then petrol.....

we have to cut back on driving.... =[... but yer the direct injection systems have been run in a few turbo cars.. i heard the systems cost around 4k+!!! but that would pay itself off in a couple of years...

yeah government should subsidise them.. or have rebates for them

pintorulz
16-07-2008, 04:36 PM
Apparently the GOVT at the moment is giving a $2000 rebate.... it would be sweet if they can somehow or the other replace the tank currently with a lpg tank and have a smaller petrol tank somehow in the boot or someting

isnt it cause lpg has a larger expansion rate that unleaded does?

though you need to run a different comp. ratio on the engine or sumfin.

my question is.

if evry1 turns to lpg.
what would WE do wen lpg reaches 2 dollars?

remembering back in 1999-2000.
petrol was 60 cents a litre.
hrm and lpg atm is around .. 70 cents ?

why not walk? unless price of shoes go up
:/

I have put LPG in my boot before in my S2K...................I ran out of gas at my BBQ last week so I grabbed a swap n go at Bunnings. Thats as close as LPG gets to my car.

The way I see it is this. I used to sell cars, and the amount of guys who came in, (and there were plenty of whipped married guys!) and asked "hey, can I put this Ford FPV F6 Typhoon on gas?" was amazing. I simply said it's a performance car, with that comes higher maintinance, not just higher fuel consumption. LPG = Heat, and has less range per litre too. Gas motors do wear out quicker. Performance cars have more expensive brakes, higher quality oils, usually need higher octane (although gas apparently is quite high?) better tyres the list goes on. It's a whole maintinence package, not just fuel which is the day to day expense we all hate.

If you want economy, buy a Camry.......they are a great car! But if you want performance, most people are happy to pay.

Fuel, well I remember when if it was over 70c per litre I just kept driving! We have got it pretty good here in AUS, it just pisses me off that all the tax money from fuel is meant to be spent in part on improving the roads. Now if you own an S2000, as most of us do you will know that here in VIC anyway alot of the roads are falling to pieces. You hit a bump and it knocks a tooth out! I am at standard height and it is getting pretty bad once you are off a Freeway.

Just my 2c, which makes me wonder what can you buy for 2c these days?

James.

gas tuned properly can have the same power goals if not a hair more than petroleum. Look at gasresearch guys here in melb. One benefit of gas would be NO EPA!!!! hehehehe I think the lpg is also of a high octane rating.

gas used to cos like 2 cents per/L a few years go and just like petrol has hiked up to 70ish cents. Its basically a by product they get from fuel production.

Gov needs to invest in natural gas i think, we have tonnes of it here, yet the gov pushes the info aside...

fuels all a big gov/corporate/usa scam.

costs half as much, gets you just over half as far, and puts you 2 grand out of pocket to begin with... 2 grand buys a bit of fuel even if it's not as much as it used to.

had it on a few family cars (vans, commodores etc) over the years and wouldn't bother again, especially with something i wanted decent performance and reliability out of!

whats going to happen once petrol goes over 2 dollors a liter

PT it or just cop it on the chin.

don't you need at least 6cyclinders to have LPG? and some decent boot space?

pintorulz
18-07-2008, 09:03 AM
yeah you would need some decent boot space... but i wonder why dont they create different shape LPG tanks eg.. similar to a petrol tank or something like that

lol i dont think they mix too well :/

dood simple answer man.
ebay electric superchargers man.

5-10% gain in fuel efficiency WOW!.
yours for only 499.95! get BIG hp for LESS fuel.

lets see some rebate on that. chaching .. winner. i should be pm. =]

NO NO NO NO NOOOOO

I would be interested to see if the poor engine starts detonating with LPG....

it will be interesting to see if the savings in fuel covers the cost of an engine reco.

the goverment convinces hundreads of thousands of people to convert to gas , then the price of gas will skyrocket. its win win. all in all were screwed

Most people dont realise LPG is actually like 100 RON....

Injected systems dont backfire....

You can have LPG with as many cylinders as you want.

Sequential vapour injection systems are within +/- 5% of petrol power. The newly introduced and presently very rare liquid inject appear to be getting significant power increases...

I would love to see an S2000 with a decent LPG conversion, will flog a Prius for running costs and probably emissions as LPG is MUCH more environmentally friendly than petrol

There is a reason beyond my knowledge that they cannot really make tanks any other shape than roundish at present, at least not with a reasonable cost. You can get donught tanks though, that go in your spare wheel well, for about an extra $200.

im with that other guy, higher petrol costs is associated with owning a performance car. i mean i wish i had 177kw stock instead ill make do with my fuel consumption :p

Yeh true, why not keep wasting money on petrol, I would rather spend $3000 grand on some ricey carbon fibre intake to gain 2kw instead of getting a 10% power increase
