red is hard, you can do amber really easily as you can get amber coloured t10 bulbs.

the ones that do the backlighting are T10 and there are only three of them

as for the cluster its easy.

undo the two screws on the roof of the black housing and pop out the black housing (phillips head screws)

then there are three screws holding the cluster in.

One in the bottom left, one on the bottom right and one at thetop in the middle.

undo these three (phillips head) and it comes right out.

the cluster removal is pretty simple, just 5 screws. two on the top, holding in the plastic and 3 screws holding the cluster in place. I wanted to change mine to red but cbb. ended up buying a dc2r cluster, much easier

when you change em... can you post up some pics?

i have amber wide angle led bulbs that i got from some american site but i got the size too small... ended up just blutacking them into the bulb slots and they still work HAHAHA but i have spots that are darker and spots that are lighter if you get me?

though even so, i had blue ones before these amber ones that were the right size and still had the lighter and darker areas... so i duno?

led's will give u that problem because they are a direct light. i tried a dome shape blue led for my dc4 cluster but it's not very bright even at the highest brightness setting. apparently the best type of led to get is the 5-LED wedge one. i havent found one yet so im not too sure if it works.

theres
1. convex globes = spread light evenly but not bright quite dull
2. Single LED wedges = bright but get hot spots (bright and dark patches)
3. 3 LED wedges = bright and no hot spots, light spreads out evenly =)
4. 6 LED wedges = very bright and no hot spots, light spreads out evenly

my opinion is 3 LED wedges work best for dsash application, the 6 LED ones are way too bright expecially on high setting.
