yes, cranks over but does not fire, but if you leave it for 30 mins sometimes it will start fine. but other times it needs a jump start from the hilux ute and then it fires every time all i need it the ute with me all times haha

sounds like it could be your battery. Get it tested.

its not the battery its brand new its the first thing i got checked. but does it make sense that it could the the distributer? thats what the auto elec said but he just looked at it for 2 seconds and said "probably the distributer there around $500" and walks off so im just checkin out other possibilities before doing anything. the thing is sometimes is works sometimes it dosnt...i would of thought that the distributer failed, it would just stop working completely, not work one day but then work the next, if you understand where im coming from.

only time ive had the car cut out while driving was when i had a prob with my fuel pump. but ive had the same prob of the car not starting for bout 30mins. take off your distributer cap/cover and check for cracks also if the rotor button is warnout..mine was pretty much gone with burn marks etc. i think there about ~$100 for a new oem one.

also heard ppl resoldering their main relays to help solve this prob.

I would say its the shaft or seals in your dizzy mate. Oil could be getting inside and flooding causing it not to spark and the motor to cease. After it sits for a while, the oil will drip the bottom of the cap or leak out and around the dizzy. Check if there is oil leaking inside by removing the dizzy cap. Simular problem happened to me a while ago. Got distributor overhauled for around $170.

get the rotor button and dizzy cap looked at.

should be able to buy a replacement rotor button from repco for about 20bucks, and a dizzy cap for about 30

CHeck your main fuel relay too. Also check the ignition coil.

hold on there guys def sounds like the main fuel relay, really common on older honda's ie crx. mine did it too, fixed using the diy on crxaustralia.com

there is a relay next to your coin tray behind the trim, all you need is solder and an iron and a couple of mins. auto elecs charge $300+ to replace.
