I am getting my stock S2K 16" rims done in Glasurit black with their satin clear. Looks good costing me about $80.00 per rim. He is in Melbourne does hotrods and streetcars so a real nice job. Satin clear makes em look good, and you can wash them easily too.

Stock versus modified.......seriously why bother?
Because thats why modifying is fun, everybody has their own idea of how their car should look.
I got mine done at a shop because they do come out nicer in a booth.

Why not just spray clear over your rims to give it a gloss look? Clearcoat is easy. A monkey could do it

Wells im not a monkey :P Dont think it comes out the same as the pros do it.
Good idea but these rims are Brand new, dont want to risk it

But you're going to get them sanded back and painted gloss black anyway aren't you. What have you got to lose? If they look shit then do the original plan and get them professionally done. You never know, you may be an artist with the spray can :P

i agree with this, the gloss paint will look matte from brake dust corrosion within a month.. may as well do it yourself if your thinking of painting. Same reason i ended up just doing satin black. looks like shit now coz i got lazy to clean it.
otherwise pay the $$$ for powder coating... only thing to kill it is gutter rash.

it does... you don't spray clear coat straight on top, you have to get "Top Coat", not sure who makes it but i bought mine from Autobarn... it's a clear semi clear coat, mildly acidic used to thin the paint a bit to even out the colour.. then you clear coat on top and polish it like you do the chassis

As far as Ive been told, powder coating is a more robust method that is stronger with less chance of chipping and flaking......
