View Full Version : Achieving sub 1:10s @ Wakefield in a Honda Civic!
Round 5 of the NSW Supersprints took place on the 20th of July at Wakefield Park after a very long break. This break gave us the further opportunity to review our setup from the earlier Supersprints rounds.

Spouting the Toda quads, the MFactory Superprint Civic's Engine was a work of art (Forgive the airbox and headers for now). Unfortunately, as participants know, prepping a car for an event is never complete. Trying to understand the potential of the engine, we ran a stock ITR headers and an SRI, not ideal for the setup, but away we went anyway.

When the day opened, it was extremely cold and slippery - I had to pick my way around the track very gingerly to avoid my usual opening lap spin outs, but as the day went by, it turned out to be a nice cool day for racing. Having initially set the suspension alignment at the beginning of the year and only playing with damper settings thereafter, we managed to pull a string of Sub 1:10s @ Wakefield Park during each run - I was very happy to have been pretty consistent instead of doing one lap wonders.
I had a couple of drama's during the runs as well including one where I was abruptly cut off going into turn 1 almost resulting in a collision, but was fortunate to avoid it. No one's fault really, just the usual track incident.
At the end of the day, we came away with a class win and breaking the previous class record by more than 1.5 seconds.
A testament to the build and tune abilities of Adrian, saw us not only racing and winning on the tune but also achieving a less than 1/2 a tank of fuel to get to Wakefield park (238km) cruising at 100km/h. We could even go out onto the track and did 3 sessions before deciding it was better to refuel as a precaution.
And always happy to share - a couple of 1:09 laps in the Civic - Turn the volume up!

and as usual, thanks to Toda Racing Australia and MFactory for the incredible support and know how.

If it does happen (hope not), then at least I get to use your wet times as a benchmark.

That Sunday at Wakefield, it started raining and my wiper blades fell off...literally.
Nevertheless, I have just bought me a bottle of rain x...

How many fwkW are you making? This is a DC2R motor, yes? Has it got cams... as in TODA??? Has it ever been down the strip??? Nice sounds... what diff/final drive is it running?
Great to see somebody using it for what it is begging for!
Jealous!
Its a B18C2 Engine not C7 :-p
It does have Cams, Toda C's
It should go down to the strip but knowing the way I launch and shift, I'd probably do a 15second pass.
FD is a 4.7

ahhh,so it is a PR3 head on a B18C2 block.
you can tell by the coolant outlet pipe,it comes out under the VTEc solenoid on the P72 head, the PR3 it comes out under the dizzy.

P72 is B18C2 head, typeR uses the PR3 head as well as the B16,so what u got is the good ol' poor mans type R,but taken even further.
would like to know some internal info, but i guess thats adrians secret........

Was the red GTR consistant with times or did he just get that one good one?
His car was blooooody loud, although your car and the black dc2r(Ricky) sounded very nice also.
Woop..Jacky Yick just won the IPRA unders @ Oran Park GP.
I think the GTR had initial problems and towards the end of the day, he was pulling a string of 1:10s and 1:09s. So pretty consistent.
I don't know how my car sounds :-( I'm usually deaf in the car...
