I will assume this is on the EK? I think you just need to remove the fuse. Look it up on the owner's manual, it's in the fuse section.

What is the risk though?

Resetting your ECU will make no difference, unless of course you have just made some breathing mods to your car.

just un-plug the ECU fuse in ur engine bay for 15-30mins,then put it back, should do the job~~

after u have xhaust mods or CAI installed,it will have a bit gain for reseting the ECU

anyway, try the search function ,had been discuss many times ago

15 to 30 min is a bit excessive, 30sec to 1 min is more like it.

if you cant find the right fues, disconnect the battery for 30 sec or so.

its still viable, some people BACK THEN were saying u get no gains, and people BACK THEN said u did get gains, so regardless people are unsure about if resetting the ECU is good or not.

it'll make no difference in peak power, can only help in part throttle, low load driving.

OK
resetting the ecu only serves to clear some information that is stored in the main processors RAM. The ECU is powered by a constant 12V.

Resetting the ECU will clear CEL codes & other iinformation such as ling term and short term fuel trim.
These trims help the ECU determine how it should alter injector duty cycle.

So, if the information is cleared, there "may" be some gain in "initial" performance, however whilst the ECU re-learns these trims, the benefits will reduce, and when they aren't that large to begin with......

it's important to add that those variations to the short term and long term fuel trim as you put it only makes a difference in low load/part throttle driving... as soon as you get on the gas and kick the car into open loop, it won't make a bit of difference... and as such, resetting the ecu, doesn't cause an increase in hp as most people seem to think.

absolutely agree

absolutely agree

likewise ~ but isnt it more so , to "aid" the engine in acheiving its optimum running with new "mods" at a quicker rate ? (not to increase HP at all...never heard that misconception?)
