Hard wiring a GPS

hey i have a tom tom 910
i wanna hard wire the cables so that i can hide all the cables

Can someone help me and let me know what i need to do this.
Can i just cut the cable they gave me.

u can cut the plug off or just wire in a cig lighter socket into the back of your existing lighter & just plug it in there behind the console.

but the plug says 5v/12v so im guessing there is some type of power converter in the plug.
