View Full Version : Running 2 channels at 4 ohm and 2 at 2 ohm is this safe?

Hi all, i have a fusion 4 channel amp, (powerplant 800w) and want to know if it is safe to fun the front channels at 4 ohm and the rears at 2 ohm the amp is 2 ohm stable but is it bad to run the front 2 channels at 4 ohm and the rear 2 at 2 ohm?

Check the specs of your amp.
I have run two 4-ch amps like that - a Focal and a Coustic.

How are you going to run the amp at 2 ohm?

running the speakers parallel?? - should be fine, just mind that the power increases.

Or bridging it?? I would think it wouldnt be able to support mono @ 2ohm.

The specs just say its 2 ohm stable, yeh wont be bridging it just adding another set of splits, so ill have one set of splits running off the front channel and my 6x9s and another set of splits off the rear channel and then sub still off the monoblock.

yes that is okay, if u don't bridge, it's all good.

Just letting people know that yes this do seem to work fine, although as expected the amp is getting a little warmer... splits in the boot FTW tho! better than just sitting in my room in boxes
