identifying a d16z6 head

recieved an eg sedan the other day that i think might have a z6 head, just not sure as it might just have a vtec valve cover (the block being a y1). is there any way physical diferentses that i can tell? and if a piston has gone through the block will the head be damaged atall? cheers.

Pull it appart & have a look... The chances are slim.
Personally I'd bin the whole thing & just buy a replacement engine.

d16z6 = american version of our d16y1

pretty much the same thing i think.

oh so the y1 is our sohc vtec? thought it was the y8?
