View Full Version : Coilovers on DC4

Ok I just wanted to ask a quick question, I've been looking at coilovers for my dc4 teg, and I've narrowed it to the buddy club N+ and the tein ss. Now having a look at the model specific list they have them both for the dc2, this is probably a stupid question but they're both basically the same chassis correct? So I could still chuck them on?

I'm leaning towards the N+ because I like the dual adjust feature.

yeh dc2 and dc4 are the same. id say get the n+ too apparently every1 says its better.

You need type R dc2 / EG6 rear lca

dudeling7

N+ is way better than SS i reckon in every way unless you jsut want a stock feeling ride a little bit lower.

you will only need DC2R/EG6 rear lca's if you go for the type r ball joint ones. if you get the version made for DC2 then it will straight fit into your car.

Buddyclub dont make fork type bracket for the rear on DC4 integra.

Only EK N+ came with fork type rear lca

You need type R dc2 / EG6 rear lca

That'd what I though when I read acouple of thread on here but then I had a look and apparently there's 4 different ones for the integra.

BC02-NP92EG these are for the 94-01 Integra
BC02-NP92EGNM these are for the 94-01 Integra with out the upper mounts
BC02-NP96DC2R these are for the 94-01 Integra type r
BC02-NP96DC2RNM these are for the 94-01 Integra type r without the mounts

Which ones do you distributors stock?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 11:13 AM
you need the mounts. the lca's should cost you no more than $250.00

you may need to think about a solution for your brake lines when you are installing because theres no provision for them on the coils.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 11:32 AM
do buddy club or some other company make them? cause I don't really fell like sourcing ones off a type r

GreekWarrior

Apparently these ones, the ones that go on EK can go on the dc2/4, I think anyway.

They look the same as my stock ones.

yourfather
26-07-2008, 01:00 PM
the type r lcas are made for your chassis, the ek suspension isnt. thats the difference i believe

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 02:30 PM
Well according to sites those ones there are for a dc2 integra, and they have different ones for the type r (the eye joint ones).

I was under the impression that the ek's and dc2/4 share the same chassis? or is that eg's?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 03:35 PM
eg and dc2 share similar geometry.

ek is newer chassis than dc2. the dc2r dc2/dc4 differentiation is because of the eye socket required to fit to the lower control arms to the dc2r as opposed to the forked fork for a dc2/4.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 03:50 PM
well those fork ones say for 92-00 Civic EG/EK / 94-01 Integra DC2

I know the dc2r has the eye joint, but do I really need the lca if I can get the fork joint ones?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 03:58 PM
well, the dc2r ones are designed for dc2r running gear - but same chassis. there would be minimal difference and the lca's provide room for your brake lines , i dont know about the ek ones but i am not sure about suitability.

if you can get coils that are designed for the dc2/4 with fork instead of eye, go for that. otherwise try and get 2nd hand lcas

Q_ball
26-07-2008, 04:15 PM
You only need dc2r lca's if you plan on buying coils suited to the type r.
All dc2/dc4 coilovers etc etc are interchangeable.

edit:
EK coils - the fronts will fit onto the dc/eg no probs, but not the rears.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 04:42 PM
why whats with the rears?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 04:49 PM
different chassis

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 04:53 PM
hmm

bah it's hard finding contestant info on the net, even the buddy club site doesn't really tell you much.

might have to chat with one of the traders.

Q_ball
26-07-2008, 04:59 PM
Dude, ive got a gsi..

The easiest and prolly most cheapest alternative for you in terms of finding and buying suitable coils, is to buy either EG, or DC2/4 coils.
Theres plenty out in the market there.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 05:08 PM
such as?

buddy club do make em for eg and dc2..

what others are there?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 05:08 PM
q has a dc4, i had a dc2. trust me, we both looked. stop looking for ek stuff

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 05:13 PM
I'm not lookin for ek stuff...

what do yous have then?

hisoka
26-07-2008, 05:32 PM
how much you wanna spend on coilovers~

dudeling7
26-07-2008, 05:34 PM
dude you can get them from other sources with the fork type im sure or it, maybe from america though.

i have a DC4 and i bought DC2R LCA's because the Buddyclub N+ that i got were origionally off a DC2R.

anything for eg/dc is interchangeable apart from dc2r and eg6.

if you are looking for something else, what is your budget?

if you are choosing between these 2 options then n+ are superior compared to ss.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 05:35 PM
not sure...I don't wanna spend too much, but I don't want shit coilovers either.

Maybe $2500 as a max?

integraz
26-07-2008, 05:50 PM
Also what do you want to use them for?

Daily? Track? Daily+Track?

If you can go for flex or mono flex.

but if it's only for street- Tein SS is fine.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 05:51 PM
daily mainly, track odd occasion.

dudeling7
26-07-2008, 05:55 PM
well you can get racing spec damper for $2200 on BC site plus around $250 for dc2r lca that wouldbe good.

or if you wanna spend less and dont track as much n+ for about $1700 plus lcas which will still be less than 2k.

GreekWarrior
26-07-2008, 06:00 PM
hmm so looks like I'd probably have to get the lca aye, hard to fit?

and is the only place i'm getting one off a dc2r or are there after market ones?

yourfather
26-07-2008, 06:17 PM
easy to fit just takes a while first time

I don't want to spend 2500, that's just my absolute max lol

rather keep it under 2k.

Also I now your thinking that's alot for a dc4, but this is just stage 1 ;)

but thanks for the suggestions people

27-07-2008, 11:20 PM

yourfather
27-07-2008, 11:28 PM
nope.

GreekWarrior

ahh yeah ive seen a few dc2 4wd's before, in fact i used to have one.

eventually i was so low on tein flex i had planned a special "route" to work to avoid all scraping.

GreekWarrior

GreekWarrior
29-07-2008, 01:47 PM
***update*** lol

went and talked to the boys at 999 automotive, and basically these are my options,

buddy club N+ and change the lca to type r one.

cusco coilovers which fit my teg how it is.

shunk2 coilovers which also fit my teg how it is.

not sure which to go for...the BC ones are the best out of them aren't they? how good are cusco's? I've never even hear of shunk2...lol

I was in the same boat as you. i considered all different coils, and narrowed it down to BC n+ & Teins SS as well.

Ended up going with BC as you get more height adjustment and more noticable damper adjustment. Since i track my car occassionally, i needed something more stiff than the SS which i've been told from my mates experience is too soft for track. Although if your never tracking the car, the SS would be fine.

Should be gettin mine in a few weeks. I'll let you know how it goes.

yourfather
29-07-2008, 06:14 PM
all three options 999 gave you are good ones.

skunk2 is us brand tho.

GreekWarrior
29-07-2008, 06:28 PM
ah yeah...well I've never really heard of them lol

Think I might go the buddy's though.

EKVTIR-T
29-07-2008, 06:50 PM
I would pick the Cusco (out of those 3)

Been impressed with them in a few cars..

GreekWarrior
29-07-2008, 07:02 PM
thing is I dunno which type they are, I forgot to ask :p

EKVTIR-T
29-07-2008, 07:18 PM
They only have a few types for dc2

comp s
zero 1 and 2

I think that's it

GreekWarrior
29-07-2008, 07:27 PM
true, are they as adjustable as the BC's?

EKVTIR-T
29-07-2008, 07:31 PM
I think the zero 2E have dual perche but the zero 1 and comp s are single perch

GreekWarrior
31-07-2008, 04:24 PM
what about JIC's? how good are they compared to buddy's?

EKVTIR-T
31-07-2008, 04:48 PM
Which Buddyclub you thinking? N+ or Racing spec.May as well go jap made and not taiwan made N+ .

Personally I would go JIC over Buddyclub but I haven't ridden on either.

GreekWarrior
31-07-2008, 04:56 PM
the N+ ones...

what do you mean buy jap made and taiwan made N+? are the buddy's made in taiwan?

Was looking at jic ones mainly because they come with a bracket for the brake line and the bc's don't

EKVTIR-T
31-07-2008, 05:07 PM
Apparently the N+ are taiwanese made and the Racing spec are imported direct from Japan.

GreekWarrior
31-07-2008, 05:12 PM
true...might grab the jic's then, my mate at uni says he knows the guy that owns hipower racing which is the aussie distributor I think

hisoka
31-07-2008, 06:28 PM
jics are the best hands down lol~imo. yer ivan is distributor

GreekWarrior
31-07-2008, 06:39 PM

any updates GreekWarrior?
im looking into getting coilovers too but don't know what to get. i got a dc4 as well but just going to use it purely for daily driving.

GreekWarrior
14-08-2008, 12:23 PM
oh right I forgot about this thread lol

yeah update

After doing a bit of research I've decided to get tein super streets.

Two main reasons,

1. I was able to get the jap spec ones that have the fork design (which is what the non type r tegs have) hence now I don't have to find and purchase itr lca's :)

2. I was tossing up between the jic's, buddy's and teins until I found out that the jic's and buddy's were technically illegal, any suspension in which you can adjust the height independently from the spring are technically illegal. I can't speak for other states but in qld they are, and while this might not be a problem for some I just like keeping my car legal.

So I just decided to get the tein ss, for me they're fine since I'll be mainly using them for the street on my daily driver :)

the spring rates if your interested are, Front: 8kg/mm Rear: 4kg/mm

and the intial drop is 25mm for front and rear,

And with a range of

Front: -10mm, - 54mm Rear: 8mm, -49mm

The good thing is I can change the springs and re-valve the shocks later if I find it too soft. :D

hisoka
14-08-2008, 06:08 PM
ohh ok i see~mad if you got jics~not many people have them~but they are real good

Tein SS are great for street driving. I had them on my EJ8. A little soft for my liking (coming from a background of Rock Hard capable koni and neuspeed) but seriously a great shock for street use.
