I want to put a few blue leds into the 06 cl9 as ambient lights, however I know nothing of car electrical and wiring. I wondered if there are some sydney members who might be able to help me achieve the effect like the civic light set. I will more then be happy to pay a service fee.

sorry to be obnoxious but can you be more specific.
e.g ambience as in maplights, courtesy doorlights or indash console button lights?
if you want to know what bulbs they are using then best to look in replacing bulbs/lights in the manual or take apart the console itself.
Maplights are mainly using festoon bulbs approx 25mm in length.
Courtesy doorlights use wedge bulbs.
Here's a link that may help you.

hey,
just your simple standard circuit using a LED and resistor and tap into a source.
12V -------> Resistor -------> + LED - ------->GND
try and remove ceiling light panels to tap the connection of the maplights
for resistor values and led help visit jaycar.
Note: rather having led directed to the floor (spotlight effect) use the LEDs directed into the edge of a piece of clear perspex for a better distributed lighting as the civic DIY.
Hope this helps.

why don't u just buy blue neons? and then tap it into the power source from the front door lights?
so when u open your front door, it will light up...and when the door closes, it goes off as well?

You'll blow the fuse that way. Run the lights off the battery with a fuse, but use a relay to the door lights to act as a switch. If you don't need the lights when the key is out, then use the cigarette lighter instead as a power source.

thank you for your input guys. I am the kind of guy that gets scare of taking panels off and tapping power (no idea how to). That is why I am looking for a member that have some free time and experience to help me do it and in return getting pay (say about $100) for it.

are you good at soldering?
there are two ways you can tap you can buy bridging taps where you insert two wires and when you close the bridge they join the cables together.
Else you can do ghetto style cut the wire, strip and resolder together and reinsulate the cables so there are no exposed joints.
Make sure you put polarity (+ or -) in the correct direction and make sure your battery is disconnected, else you will short and fuses will be blown.

Red is a very dull and short wave length let us know how it turns out.
Are they just plain 5mm leds you bought from jaycar or something or superbright ones?

That was the first version I had, it turn out not bright enough, then I change 2 of it to red superbright LEDs. It was for my gf's red car, so red is good. My previous car I had green LEDs as the dash is green.
Didnt do anything for the Civic, cause sold it after few months.
For the Euro, planing to have blue to match the dash.
