Why is the aftermarket downpipe (from headers to cat) smaller than stock?

yah i just want to keep the outside stock for now wheels n handling will be my next mods when i got some time and money :)

Nice, bit like my mod log.

Do the cat and get a high flow one, I have the topspeed header, comptech intake and Jtune mild flash and the hi flow cat make a good difference to torque.

I dunno about the exhaust you have as I havent heard about it before. Expensive??

Keep up the good work and drop that bitch!

felixd
29-07-2008, 10:56 PM
how does the header perform?

OEM gives more power from 6 -7k rpm noticeable, topspeed header mid range noticeable
slight small hiss but not noticeable when music on and windows up and the hiss will kick in when you actually floor it :)
cheers

was there a difference in the debaffling? worth doing?

felixd
30-07-2008, 06:26 PM
since i have never own a comptech system i dunno if it is the same but i can tell you that its better to have it smoothed cuz the theory is air gets in quicker in a smoothed area and having the fins inside will create turbulance so not good

aaronng
11-08-2008, 02:07 PM
I felt more punch from the Toda (Euro with 17" wheels). But then again, the Maxim headers were on an Euro with 20" rims, so I couldn't really tell the power gain.

11-08-2008, 02:38 PM
both designs are relatively the same arent they?

They are both 4-2-1, but they have different length of primaries and most probably different diameters. The tuned length of the primaries also plays a big role in exhaust gas collection.

yeh no worries,
it's basically how you've got it installed (PCV > catch can > manifold) but i prefer to run it shorter than how you have it, just need to find a mounting point suitable.

So its has been awhile i didnt update my car very hard to decide on my mods now so it went like this : ( pics are crappy im sorry)....

-i bought lip kit off the member here :) (OEM sport front lip + rear lip+ front mud flap )+ DIY fog light grill cover

-i DIY blacked the grill H badge + the rear H badge Accord euro writing

-then bought the Ralco (RZperformance) pulley kit + gates belt but decide not to use them so its up for sale !!!!

-look thru on net decide to bolt on (T1R style) fabricate test pipe 2.5" piping just to test it out hopefully when im free i can dyno with my frend :) (car sounds alot louder when start up cold but when idle its normal dead quite no irrating loud noise there) + no CEL Very happy :D

My next will be dyno this car but i dunno when ....... i really cant decide between exterior mods (wheels n handling) / engine mods (mild flash, etc) :( But ill stop for awhile now :)

here is the pics : enjoy

i like the blacked out rear badges... looks stealthy :p

my cat convertor has died :(

i had a really annoying rattle at 2000-2500rpm... thought it was the exhaust rubbing.. but no, its the metal fins inside the cat :(

your solution might be an option for me lol even tho it may not be legal :p

I'm not a fan of people who use test pipes on the street. Track and drag is fine, but street, that is just selfish. *cough cough*

How does it go with the test pipe as opposed to the OEM cat,did you notice any gain?

No cat = serious pollution, not to mention that it's highly illegal. The performance difference is negligible for a relatively low output NA car too.

The number of cars and frequency on the track and drag are much lower than on the street. :) Worse of all is the 10k fine if the EPA finds out.

long time no updates :( cause of insufficient funds :( trying to stop modding but........ instead????

ok here it goes

test pipe caused trouble ( strong exhaust fumes and throwing CEL and drinkin alot of fuel ) even with defouler ...not good n sold it away! ! !

after a couple of months looking for black vinyl tape (lol) yup its hard to find !!! ive recently found em at bunnings :) ($5 buks) for the 1-2 attemp (took me like 3 hours) its damn annoying trying to get the air bubble out but after the 3rd go (15 min job) its pretty impressive so here is the result trying to copy Euro r window surrounds :) NOW THE CAR LOOKS GREAT with(black and graphites and chrome door handles)

and relocating the oil catch can and add a small air breather dunno wads its for ??? but yeh :)yupp i got bored real quik !!!

DIY on how you did the black honda badges @ the rear please!

felixd
02-11-2008, 03:16 PM
the rear badge and the front grill hmm let me think ....

the paint you need

clean glove, fine steel wool, primer , black spray auto paint, and clear gloss auto paint

remove the badges using hair dry ( heat the glue adhesive )bagde and old atm card carefully remove the badges then to clean the badge scrub with steel wool thoroughly , use clean glove and clean the chrome badge spray the primer 2 - 3 coats let it dry then apply black paint 2 coats for me its all good and leave it dry and apply the clear coat 2 light coats. leave it dry and put it back all together

to glue it back on i use ( sikaflex black stuff ) get ir from autoshop :)
