just replaced my MTF today.

problem: while i was filling it through the filler hole it started to drip abit after 2L. so i poured another 200mls then went under to put on the filler bolt but the fluid s started to pour out pretty heavily. now im scared there might not be enough fluid in it.

Is there another way to pour abit more fluids in? e.g. that little hole that has a cap on it. [located on the right hand side of the bottom radiator hose]

thanks!

gosh. just stop now

read thru my DIY thread about this exact problem....

this will give you both an easy way to top up fluid to the EXACT level , and also give you a handy fluid tool in the process.

yeah i made that tool already but wasnt sure about the vss thing so i thought i'd just do it through that filler bolt.

I'll try and do it your way next time.

to access the VSS , its located right next to your rear engine bracket , ontop of the gearbox diff housing. hine a torch donw there and you should see it.
Get a 10mm socket + long extension , there is ONE 10mm bolt to take out. Take your time and be careful. once all done take care tightening the 10mm bolt as its soft and will snap if over torqued

2L of MTF sounds about right for a d-series manual box

its actually about 2.3 litres to be "full'
doing it my DIY way above , on flat ground , gives the EXACT amount of MTF needed.

having 2L of it should be ok if full is about 2.1-2.3?
thanks everyone.
