Hi all ive got no spark, ive tested the coils and the Primary Coil reads 1.5ohms and ive been told its supposed to read 0.6-0.8ohm.

Any help?

Cheers

the difference between 1.5 & 0.8ohms could be accounted for by the resistance in your test leads, hold the test leads directly together & see what it reads, then do the measurement & subtract that value.

test the secondary winding its what usually goes.

No spark? Tried swapping dizzy with a mate?

i dont think that the multimeter would do that, my mate paid somthing like $300 for it (hes a sparky)

I dont know anyone else with an integra, any ideas?
Could it be the igniter module???

Cheers everyone

$300 for a multi doesnt mean shit, the leads could be crap, joints full of crap, just maybe a crap meter,if he is a sparky he should know to test the leads first before taking such low ohm readings & if he didnt test the secondary winding, then id suggest finding a sparky that knows what he is doing.

i'm betting on the ignitor module as a coil rarely dies flat out as a result of a dead circuit.. coils die gradually causing misfires then stops igniting because of resistance build-up and resulting damage to the actual coils of wire.. like when a subwoofer blows a link in the coils.

an icm just dies (or does the opposite), only way for an intermitent miss on an icm is if it is damaged by some means (ie i had a spark leak from the rotor that hit a wire coming out of my icm, or in CRXers and my latest case, pulling of a plug lead while the engine is running).

I have a semi working icm for you to test out if your in Sydney.. if it is the cause i also ordered a new icm from the states for AU$68 delivered by express mail... pm me to do the test install and details of the shop i ordered from.

it can be the CDI inside the distrubutor at fault.....most of the time tht wat causes it ...

CDI in the dizzy? what dizzy comes with that?? i'm guessing you meant the coil?

anyways nomcice whats the update mate? did you get the icm i sent up?

you know speaking of joints since you mentioned it.. was doing some reading on other ignition related stuff and apparently we're supposed to coat the connectors and plug end with dielectric grease (silicon dielectric compound with PTFE) to promote even electrical distribution

- remove dizzy cap
- remove rotor
- remove plastic dizzy cover under rotor.. exposing dizzy internals
- at the bottom left is your icm mount held onto the actual dizzy casing by 2 screws, unplug the 4 connectors and remember where they go
- then remove the 2 screws and pull out the icm and mount
- remove 2 screws attaching icm onto mounting plate
- replace icm
- do the above in reverse order

I've had a coil die.

same.. not fun... tis a bit tricky though to diagnose between either the coil or icm unless you had a spare of at least one of them... tis why i now keep a spare icm.
