hey guys can someone please tell me the function of an air breather, its currently setup comming out of the rocket cover of my B18 where the stock intake valve connects up to intake pipe.

Does it allow the engine to "breath" between strokes. Reducing the pumping losses caused by the vacuums, hence helps the engine to run a bit smoother?

no. That is actually the induction (inlet) for the engine PCV system.
IT is illegal to simply put a breather on it that vents to the atmosphere. Best to keep it stock and work like an engine should
