Hey, my keyhole on the drivers side door has been playing up and has finally sh*t its self, the problem now is the key barrel turn continuously with the key i don't think the actual barrel is turning was just wondering how i can go about fixing the problem, do i need to buy a new barrel or could it be something else?
the central locking still works though its stiff as to unlock have to push a lot harder than normal, its a 96 teg vtir
cheers:beer:

Going off what you are saying.. sounds like you snapped the barrel out of its clips? And it turns with the key as you try to unlock..? Also how has it been playing up.

I'd be looking at the door actuator with the problem you are having, that I understood from your description.

Ps: If it is the actual barrel that has seized, if you are that unlucky ( which I doubt ) , If you have to replace 1 Barrel you have to replace them all, which means new set of keys also, that will have to be programmed/coded to the vehicle.

the key turns in the barrel normally but the door doesn't unlock but the central locking works when i open it from inside, the actual barrel does not spin if you get what i mean. i was thinking because the central locking still works i could just get a new central locking and alarm kit with key-less entry (remote) instead of changing all the barrels if it is what you think it may be.

with that been said, its pointing more towards the actuator, if it is stuffed completely then you need to replace it, but also the barrel has a rod going into the actuator which allows you to operate the locking/unlocking by key, it might have simple fallen out, the rod has a " + " type pattern on the end of it which slots into the actuator, look if that has come out before doing anything

a locksmith might be able to fix just the 1 barrel.

on the rear tailgate of the ODC. someone tried to break in to it and bent the "cover plate" and the barrel wont let the key go all the way in or turn nemore, went to locksmith and if i take it out mysle f(makes it cheaper) they can probably fix it. or if not replace it. or so i was told.

cheers for the info peoples, i took the door panel off and had another look, as the key turns the thing in there turns but its not even connected to any thing so i gave up and got a alarm and key-less entry installed, ill end up just getting it checked out at a lock smith.
