Hey i was just wondering, when the computer engages vtec does this mean it increases fuel input???
Like when driving without vtec and you rev higher, then driving to the same revs with vtec does the computer activate a richer fuel map??

YES it does. thats why you see a bunch of back smoke blowing out when you floor it.

Awsome... I bought my car and it had the vtec to a switch, and i disconnected it asap as when he showed me how it worked it just didn't sound right, and i swear it was detonating....
I am trying to fix the problem and all i am left with is a VSS... it has the old carbie gearbox and i tried to buy a cluster from somebody on ozhonda and it wasnt what they said so i got a VSS from an EG and it dosent fit....
If the car was left on the switch, when the car was switched to vtec, would if lean out???

the VTEC engagement relies on several factors that enable it if all are OK.
such as road speed (vss) oil temp , oil pressure coolant temp etc.
if you bypass all these and use a simple on/off switch to hi cam at any other rpm you may and will cause damage to the engine.

Cheers... thats what i thought thats y i diconnected it and am in thh very long and painful process of fixing backyard job mistakes and trying to fix all the appropriate sensors that are needed to make the car run normally...
Which brought me to this post... the last thing i need is the VSS... and i cant seem to get one in the cluster... and its the old carbie gearbox and i cant seem to find a VSS to fit, tried a EG one today and failed....lol
Any ideas would help heaps...
