Aim: To update the dull appearance of the standard DC4/DC2 cluster. ITR style!!

Required:
1x Philips Screw Driver
3x T-10 Wedge LEDs –Red colour (I highly recommend using SMD globes or 4 LED globes)

http://photos-177.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v310/151/53/682960177/n682960177_1074689_3483.jpg

Approximate Installation Time: 20mins

Cost: $10-$15 for the LED globes

Steps:

Step 1
Lower the steering column to enable easier access to the two screws that hold the cluster surround. Then remove the two screws using the Philips screwdriver, this maybe a bit difficult as the screws are fairly tight, Do what you have to do to remove these bad-boys! Otherwise you cannot progress to the following steps =P

Step 2
Once the two screws are out, gently remove the black plastic cluster surround by running your Philips screw driver around the edges while pulling it out with your other hand.

Step 3
Once the plastic cluster surround is out, now its time to remove the actual cluster, there are three screws that hold the cluster in place (as indicated), thankfully these aren’t as tight as the initial two. remove these as you do with your Philips screw driver.

Step 4
Now that the cluster is loose, gently remove the cluster; pull the cluster out from the RHS, as there is a loom on the LHS that has less much less leverage. As you are removing the cluster, unplug the two looms (as indicated). Once the wiring looms are unplugged, you should be able to rotate the cluster so that it is facing you and you can access where the bulbs are.

Step 5
The rear of the cluster should look something like this, now its time to remove the old T-10 Wedges that back-light the cluster; there are three of them (as indicated). Remove these bad-boys by simply twisting them off.

Step 6
Once the old T-10 Wedges are out, gently remove the individual globes by simply pulling them out, and then attach your new Red T-10 LED’s into the old wedge socket.

Step 7
Now re-install the T-10 wedges into the back of the cluster and connect up the two wiring looms. Smart DIY ppl will always remember to TEST the dash lights by turning on your parkers or headlights before re- fitting the cluster and the plastic cluster surround. Make sure you do too! If the cluster isn’t lighting up properly, rotate the LED’s (Positive and Negatives might be mixed up)? Refit your cluster and its plastic surround by following the steps above but in reverse chronological order.

sure, its relatively similiar as i did this DIY to my old EG, just the removal of dash/cluster suround is different, and you will need five t5 globes from memory not t-10s. refer to the members other DIY thread. just do a quick search.

no hot spots what so ever..i have tried many of the globes available including wide angle ones and concave globes...my advice as above is go for the SMD or 4 in 1 LED or 5 in 1 LED types. the concave lense globes is not siutable for dash application and doesnt work well (though promise even spread of light) they arnt very bright compared to the others.

Because the globe set up in the dc2 dash is so effective, (in globe distances and globe size) you wont have any issues with hot spots provided u used the globes i suggested.

cheers.. rep, rep me
