On my CD5 Intake pipe (before the air box & in between the TB ) there are 2 openings that lead
to what I presume is some sort of intake resonator.
what exactly is this, & can this be removed so I can use a normal intake?
Is there a DIY on this... As I couldn't find one.

Cruise control has nothing to do with it. They are intake resonators. Yes, when you instal an aftermarket intake, you do away with all that junk.

yeah mate rip em out and install a cai.
you can always take out the resonator for a louder intake tone.
It was made to resonate the volume of your intake, so clearly if your modifying your car you probably want the noise anyways.

what are you referring to with the red circles?

you get rid of everything there man
that box thing youve circled is a electronic IAR (intake air resonator)
inside it theres a butterfly like in the throttle body, and it opens up at a certain RPM i think its when vtec engages at like 2900RPM all the other vacuum lines
pull em out in the end you'll be left with one which need blocking lol, i just
snipped a bit of vacuum line and put a screw in the end of it

I pinched the pic from someones DIY (thermostat change) I didn't draw the red circles lol.

I am currently running a pod with an aluminum intake pipe attached to the factory intake hose & with the resonators installed,
It has changed the intake note slightly and helped low end response & also in the VTEC range.
Will Installing an AEM or INJEN CAI (with resonators removed) etc help response more or just give a louder intake note.

if your running a pod from new piping you dont need your resonators mate.
I'd just wait until you get a cai and then rip it all out, doesnt make much difference tho, maybe just a bit easier for space but even still not too hard.
You can always buy generic cai off ebay and replace the filter, its only air going through the piping so 1 that says a brand and one that doesnt wont make a whole lot of difference.

Just rip it all out and install a long ram/cold air pipe with pod. Those resonators are just wasting space. I cleared up so much space in the bay taking all that out.

I think the Ingen was the better of the two as far are manufacturing the CAI piping goes, alot smoother.

Are you serious? You either fail at searching, or you fail at life in general.
