Hey guys,
lost my keys to my civic, along with my house keys what not.
f!sh!t. ><
anyway, i know getting another key from honda is going to cost heaps.
ive got the red key.
but im worried abbout the alarm/remote central locking unit. i lost the remote for it as well.
Is there a way to get another remote for it? or do i need to replace the whole unit?
Thanks in advance.

PREDDY'S LOCKSMITH IN KINDSWAY,MIRANDA can supply, cut and program your key for about $90 and you can buy a universal remote from DICKSMITH if you have got another remote to pair them with.

hrmms not sure myself but i have a go at it
well try going back to the place you bough your alarm and see if you can get a remote... and than you need to reset the alarm and get an alarm specialist to re-program your remote to work with your alarm o.0

u have to change the immob only if u lose the red key (thats my understanding).
they use the red key as a guide for key duplication.
just to let u know, i didnt have a red key, was down to one drivers key in bad condition. i went to a mr minit key/shoe place and they cut me and programmed the key for $90 each. WITHOUT the red key.
as for remote, good luck on that - you should've been more preapred :) :)

or contact perfect locksmiths.. located in sydneys south west.
0419 436 389
if that number isnt right just look it up in yellowpages.
he changed for my ek1 immob unit and 2 new keys for $400 give or take (i still had my red key). BUT thats only if you scrambled the immob unit code with your red key (putting the red key in the ignition and trying to start it).. if you didnt do that he can just copy keys and the code from ur existing immobilser unit for you and you will be on ur way.. that should be $80 a key.
and he also comes out to you aswell...
so you dont have to tow ur car..
as long as you ahev the red key
perfect locksmiths can fix it up for you.
if that makes sense?
edit* with ur remote.. shit happens.. use ur key to open the door from now on
lol

SiReal -
yeah i thought that as well, well i read it on the forum somewhere.
i rang back honda blacktown, i asked again
"is it $800 even if i have the red key"
they said yes, bcos i didnt have a black key.
at that point i was .......

note: jeff is right..
- the red key doesnt do shit.. as its only a template so they can cut keys accurately as the red key is never used comparing them to ur black keys.
- the black keys have codes which match with the immobiliser unit so the car can start.
- do not put the red key to start the car as the red key will scramble the immobilser unit.. meaning you have to get the immob unit replaced.
- if you have lost you black keys and still have the red.. some locksmiths can copy that code from the actual immob unit thats still in the car (thats ifyou havent scrambled the code)
- if you lost all keys shit happens be prepared to pay $$$ for new keys a immob unit inginition barrel and so on.
* at the end of the day.. if you stil have ONE key thats all that matters.. Honda Dealers would tell you the right thing as what they are told to say.. but locksmiths tell you another..
I've been through it all and found the easiest and cheapest way out of it

if the last owner has.. and the car is still running.. shouldnt have affected it.. as when u put in the black key is gains the correct codes again.. if that makes sense?
the last key that was put it in the ignition SHOULD be a black key if its not scrambled.

remember that you will need a key with a microchip as ur originals key would be chipped... i nearly found that out the hard way. turned my house and car inside out looking for my keys, realised they were in my pocket (not joking).. so dude check ur pockets lol
but never do anything through honda. they are scum and will charge you like 100 times what u should be paying..

I doubt those universal remote from DICKSMITH works. The universal remote control is not able to duplicate remote that make use of frequency hopping.
I reckon that buying a new alarm system would be the best way.

Yeah, I agree with that. Brought my girl to get the battery changed for her remote. OMFG! They charged us $70 bucks for that. What battery are they using man.
