Just tried the Type M dixcel brake pads and went to the track~!
The pads were sooooo good~
But it scratches my factory rotors lol

Anyone tried the Type Z? really want to give it a try...

But according to Ben at Touge Tune, he said the Type Z will kill the factory rotors for sure :(

Anyone got experience with the Type Z pads?

AP Dixcel brake pads and disk is very well known in the UK because its being an AP racing company and heavily marketed by the importer (with some racing success of course), in the honda scene at least.
most rated the type Z very highly for track (0-800C), and the Type M is purely a street pads, some users even manage to kill the type M pads in a track day..
link (http://www.dixcelbrake.co.uk) (but its a japan based company)

I think they were also known as Dephi Lockheed or something...
I once used those before and they were good too, thats why i tried these Dixcel pads...

I got the Dephi Lockheed pads for about $380 long time ago and now i got my pads from ben for only $220.

Maybe the $380 pads I bought is equivalent to the Type Z instead which they said its about 300 bucks.

Either i got ripped at the time I bought the Dephi pads or the pads just gone cheaper LOL

And apparently not much people knows about dixcel too

Dixcel sounds like a porno just kidding.

How good are these pads?
require warming up or not?
and are they sensitive to the brake pedal?

The M is probably similar to EBC green in aggressiveness, while the Z could be similar to EBC red?

Those Hawk pads look the biz. Nice and cheap too at US$85 front and US$55 rear.

I might have to make some phonecalls to see if they will fit.

I have the Hawk Ceramics on mine. Good street pad, but they do let you down after 20 laps on the track. :p

Yeah, serious. It is the only gripe I have with my car, besides the cream parcel shelf.

I can only say for performance wise + price, its very good
it gives a better pedal feel as well.

I will split it in few sections and give my opinions: =P

- Performance
I reckon it gives a better initial bite + if you smash it hard it just stops the car! so pretty good for track use.
Driving the euro with those pads for a daily use, its obvious that you don't need to put your foot as hard to stop the car.

- Dust:
To me comparing with Spoon pads and old Delphi pads, this type M produce a lot less dust. My wheels still look pretty dust-less after the track and few weeks of daily drive.

- Noise:
You can hear a bit of noise when you brake slightly harder, but its just really minor, not that i am concerned of.

- Price:
I reckon for that price, Its better then all other pads I have tried before.

- Draw back
After the track, you can see the pads have eaten away the standard rotors' surface. So thats the only thing i don't like.

Just if you are interested to know =P
Touge Tune quoted me for the Dixcel HS Brake disc for $500. The HS from what I saw on the web is the heat treated with 6 slots. Any other options that I should look for as well?
No Project Mu please =P I hate them :p

just so that you know, AP Dixcel recently discontinued the HD and HS series and uses the model name to rebrand one piece FCR rotor..
so now the one piece plain FCR rotor is called HD and one piece slotted FCR rotor is called HS, and the 2 piece FCR is still called FCR..

Too noob to tell haha~
I did 22, but could easily get under 20 or 18 i reckon~
But unfortunately my ECU didn't like my VAFC2 in the afternoon, couldn't try for a better time =P

Waitaminute! You're the one with the CF hood Euro! Himmy, is that right? It's me, Aaron, the crazy dude in the blue Euro. :p

Did you manage to sort out your VAFC problems?

Oscar B

haha he got new stuff coming in instead of fooking around the vafc like I did.
can't wait to see it in action

Hey Aaron!!~ How are you mate~?
haha i was guessing its you but i couldn't be sure haha~ and yea, thats me~

yea, the pads are killing the rotors, but hey~ I got this as a back up~
http://www.tougetune.com/misc/dix_hs.jpg
they are bloody heavy -.- weights about 17kgs... the shipping costs a fortune ._.

Couldn't fix up the VAFC problem, i just have to turn it off... so its kind of useless atm to me! As Oscar B said, there will be a crazy project coming soon! Going to keep it secret for now =P Will post new thread about it if I go ahead with it!

Nice rotors. Mine are still alright because I run ceramic pads. I have ordered in Project Mu NR pads, which are also not as harsh on the rotors, so I should get pretty good life still. The fun part is fixing my front camber so that I don't chew out my tyres as quick on the track!

Will be good to hear what you have in store for the ECU! Keep us updated with before and after dyno charts!
