View Full Version : Getting stereo installed
GDAY GUYS,
I have just ordered a double din face plate for my jazz and just shopping around to get a full system installed in my car.
shopping for something under $1000 would be ideal
i need a mp3 player with front aux and usb
tweeters/splits in the front
2 x 10" or 2x12" subs with amp
rear speakers im not too fussy
looking for opinions, and prices , contacts would be great also
if i go out and purchase my gear i need someone to also install it for me, looking around $30 per hour for install maybe?
any thought in this would be great thanks

hate to be a ball breaker matey, but you're not going to get much for that sort of price. Add another 0 on it and you can do some serious damage :)

u wont need 10,000$$ 1.5 or 2 grand will be enough for what you want. if you wanna save money get one of your mates and yourself to install it...ofcourse youll say no as you want a professional job but if you just take your time doing it yourself and pulling everything apart properly and using the right cords connecting with solder and all to tidy it up im pritty sure youll be fine and save that "$800" that itll cost for installation!

possibly $800 for install
OVERKILL! Realistically you should budget around $30 for each item to be installed.
I got my Alpine system including installation for $1500.
Consisting of:
Alpine CDA-9886 Head-unit (ipod, USB, bluetooth etc).
Alpine Amps (a monoblock amp for sub and a 4 channel for speakers).
Alpine Type-S Front Splits.
Alpine Type-S Rear 6" Coaxials.
Alpine Type-S 12" Subwoofer.
Stinger Cable Kit.
Installation (lifetime install warranty and 1 extra year manufacturers warranty).
You'll be able to get yourself a decent system for under $2000. Anything more and you're wasting your money in my opinion... unless you're going to be competing in SQ or DB comps etc.

So your saying that a 'PRO' only charges $30 per item to install, I ask you, in what country?
hmm ok...
i picked out some gear myself and gonna get it installed with a mate over the weekend
i am however worried about the mono amp i got
heres the details of the gears, let me know wat you think
amps:
audiobahn A8000T - 800 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms
Kicked 4ch Amp ( Kicker 08ZX350.4) :• 60 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (90 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)
• 175 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
2 x 12" sony xplod subs boxed 2000watts peak
kicker splits 6" front and 6" rear speakers
pioneer ipod mp3 head unit
wat do you guys think? would the mono amp give the subs a good punch? i mean 800rms for $300 is pretty decent coz the guys who sold this did a 50% off deal on that...

mate I am a pro and know what we charge to get out of bed in the morning, anything less I couldn't be bothered as my friend Laski has found out for a custom kevlar dash fascia for a Jazz to house a race gauge.
if the money ain't there I ain't interested, got too much to do without taking on other shit jobs that really aren't worth doing for love or putting me back with other work.

dont get me wrong dude,im jealous of what you guys charge & if u have a market for those prices then def good fortune to you.
id rather get a pro to work on anything i need, cos it usually works out the same if not cheaper in the long run,not having to replace scratched/broken trim/consoles,dodgy wiring & blown components,to name just a few.

Don't be afraid of 2nd hand gear.. Check out www.caraudioaustralia.com and go into the traders section.. Those guys know ALOT about audio gear so if you buy 2nd hand stuff from them, you know it has been looked after.
What kind of music do you listen to ? I'm surprised no one has asked you this question yet as it has to be taken into consideration reflecting the audio gear you need to buy to suit your needs!!

As someone said before, stay away from sony xplode.
They are not worth it, if you were going to go with a mainstream brand your probably better off going with pioneer.
And the mono amp that you said, I wouldn't choose that as audiobahn gear is rubbish. It may say 800w RMS but it will probably be pushing out half that or less.

tiksie, you are right on with saying that.
If ever I want audio gear I always go there first to check out whats for sale and usually there is some damn good gear for sale.
