Hey i was just looking at comparing the 2 cars, it seems that the accord euro seems a bit more of a "solid" car compared to civic, and a 2007 civic vti-l is around a similar price to an accord euro 2005, mind you auto tranny. In terms of reliability, features etc. how would you guys rate them?

Well i had both auto
2004 Euro Lux and 2006 Civic Sport so both top of the range.
here are my positives
Euro
* nicer to drive
* Higher quality
* more powerful
* sound system was alot better
* Just felt safer in general
Civic
* Nice Interior
* Easy to drive
I would prob go the euro as in general it just feels like alot better build of a car.
Even though i loved my civic it just felt i dont know if this is the right word but cheap
compared to the euro but then again the euro was about 20 grand more.
Hope that helps you

Yeah, there is no comparison between the euro and civic.
The civic looks and feels real cheap compared to the euro, I cant believe there is only like $7k price difference between the two when new.
Are you going for a lux or base euro? You should be able to pick up a lux for cheap now.
Do you want auto or manual? The 6sp man in the euro is a work of art.
BTW, I brought a new Toyota Corolla over a Civic at the start of last year, I thought it was definately the better car.
I've since traded in the Corolla in on a new Euro, so thats ok!

Yeah, if you don't need the new CU2, the old CL9 Lux with sat nav can be had for a bargain!

yea looking at the CL9, budget is around $22-24k, well i'm planning to get it next year, so obviously prices would drop a bit by then, but just planning ahead so i can save sufficient amount. Atm it's between CL9 vs FD1 vti-l vs FD2 sport, i like the idea of a semi-auto because i'm stuck on an auto licence atm and it'll be another 2.5 years before i'm allowed to get manual unless i do a retest which is a pain in the butt.

I thought you could drive a manual once you got your green Ps?

get a retest for manual licence mate. Manual not that hard. It will open your options right up as well.
Soooo many cars in that price range mate, everything from civic's to GTR's.
Might be lucky to pick up an FD2 sport for that money, but I still think euro ftw. IMO interior is so much better especially where the lux is concerned.
I found the FD1 VTiL's a bit nasty, esp when compared to a base euro. however, they can be had new for that money, and I like new cars!!! :cool:

hrmm i gotta double check if they still do retests for manual in victoria, not sure atm, yea i've found that i can get a 2nd hand euro with about 30,000kms on it for a similar price to a newish vti-l so its hard to say what would be better off.

I showed my mate at work some vids on youtube and they were absolutely stunned.....

He can't drive GTR on his P's. If he waits until he has fulls, then he can drive manual then anyway.
