i know its probably normal, but if i hit a big bump while driving, a thud or something tends to come from the front wheels..figured it could just be the wheel hitting the bodykit?
just installed coilovers so the car is pretty low..
pot holes are a problem but tend to avoid them..
how hard is it to notice if anything is wrong?
what damage will they do?

check you bushes, i had this same problem on one of our bmws, needed new bushes for the front, a loud clanking noise when going over holes/humps/driveways...

take it to a mechanic to have a look over the front. i work at ford and rear shockies knock like pricks all the time cos the fluid doesnt get past all the valves quick enough. i mean a clunking noise can be anything

Could be ball joints, worn bushes or shocks even - best take it to a mechanic/suspension specialist.

A thumping noise from the front is fairly normal over sharp bumps taken at some speed, I think it comes from the front radius rod bushes (on cars fitted with radius rods), because fitting stiffer bushes here seems to make the noise worse. A 'clank' isn't normal, probably means metal to metal, ie. bushes completely shot...

yeah it is more so a thump sorta hard to use a word to describe, i just thought clunk fitted better but didnt think of thump.. only over massive bumps and holes which i tend to avoid.
took it back to the suspension place, and all he could find was its more than likely the top control arm, which still has plenty of clearance, but if i do hit a big hole, it may hit. but its hard to tell.
otherwise he said the shocks and everything are good, and the bushes arent shot.
getting my new rims prob this week so might raise the car a little and see what happens.
all appears to be okay now.

Of course there's a difference between a 'thump', a 'clank' and a 'bang'. A 'bang' is what you get hitting potholes at speed or bottom out heavily (I won't mention a third category...).
