"hi guys i just purchased an integra type R 2000 model. If i rev past the redline is this bad in any way? I revved to about 8500 - 8900rom. Is this going to be bad for my car in anyway? I just wanted to know is there consequences with revving past redline? Cheers."

isnt there a rev limmiter, is the ecu factory, If its a stock ecu then there should be a rev limiter making it safe to rev to its limit.

so it is safe to tell my mate that its ok if he's revved up that high???

only if his ecu is stock. his tacho could be out.
if any damage occured you would know about it. type Rs have an awsome valve train, so the can rev quite high. the factory rev limit is where I would say its safe to rev it to. and if its past the red line then yes.

I know my tacho in my crx is out cos I can rev to 8300rpm when the ecu has a 8 000rpm limiter.redline is at 8k.

the needle has momentum, and may appear to go higher than it actually does.

i think DC2R fuel cut is at about 8600rpm?

On most DC2Rs the tacho is off so you will see about 8900 indicated before you hit the limiter.

the car is made to handle the revs up to and including the cut off.. but, dont rev that high when the engine is not fully warmed up and if you rev up that high a lot (ie your fanging it well above 5krpm all the time) then make sure you change your engine oil often!

was the car run in yet?
if not then it might not be that good to rev it that high, but if it has than it should be fine if you have the stocked ECU on it as the limiter would have a fuel cut when it reaches redline

48K is not much at all.......... the engine should be in good condition still, anyway R valvetrain can stand upto 9000rpm so your mate shouldn't be worried, just change gear around 8400rpm cos it should reach the max power, no point to rev more higher
