Hey, im just in the process of getting a type r (going to talk figures/deposit tonite) just wondering if any type R owners out there have moded much on the car. Im thinking new rims cuz the stock ones dont really dill my pickle, wat sizes can u fit on it without losing too much handling/ride and still be legal. also has anyone lowered one of these? pros/cons. and wat about intake coolers etc, wont worry bout exhaust obviously but i just wanna know what people have done, any mistakes they made i should avoid etc.

Well few people have puts 20s on it.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i308/danny_mart/20s.jpg
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i308/danny_mart/20s2.jpg

Lowering there is
1. Eibach progressive spring kit
2. KW Variant 1 Coil-over suspension kit (pre-set dampers, adjustable height)
3. KW Variant 2 Coil-over suspension kit (adjustable rebound dampers, adjustable height)
4. KW Variant 3 Coil-over suspension kit (seperately adjustable bump & rebound dampers, adjustable height)
5. ABP -30mm Sports lowering spring kit
6. King Springs

Well so far with induction kits there is some out there but all test have shown that there has been a decrease in power. If you want loud vtec sound then they are good but thats about all they are good for unless your ECU is fully re-tuned.

Why do u say obviously about exhaust there are some out there.
1. Milltek
2. HKS
3. Blueflame Performance exhaust system
and JTUNE has one in progress

Hope this helps you.

i ment more to the fact that the exhaust kinda already rocks in my oppinion visually, but suppose i wasnt thinking power boost, good call.

probably would skip the intake then, vtec already sounds pretty decent and dont really wanna lose power.

im thinking probably just get some rad 18's, and then get it lowered to suit

has anyone done any visual mods or swapped out lighting/put in a sound system, im thinking sound will be my first go, as its only a 6 speaker but i dont want it to look too outa place, luckily theres plenty o room in teh boot to throw in a subby box if i want.

dont u get a demo?

Nax
07-08-2008, 09:24 PM
have the option, IMO i dont want a demo, i make long trips interstate and just want my own car to do watever i want with and not have to worry about the company. put a deposit on it tonite, great condition, so stoked, just gotta get finance now.

love that last soundstream setup but probably a bit outa my league, the red and black ones were rad, how much did that set u back, and did u add any speakers/tweeters in the cabin seeing as its only 4 speaker?

thanks heaps for the pics! keep em comin on any mods

the red one is DIY cost me all up about 500 bucks
the black one was done by lifestyle store cost the bloke i think $1200.

I havent changed my speakers as im not real keen on loud music...
just makes u look like a tosser. but thats just my opinion...
i found the speakers were fine for what i wanted they just had no bass...
But heaps of people out there have changed there speakers...

Nax

Rad, thanks for the tip, if u could put up any pics/process on ur diy thatd be cool, now that i think about it im not really into loud music either so subby would prob suit me fine but i dont wanna spend 1200 and get more satisfaction out of diy.

you can get a CE28N 18X7.5 +43 which will make ur car quicker even in stock and look far nicer. PS. OEM rims 11.XXkg without tyres and CE28N is like 7.XXkg without tyres.....i had one pm if interest :D

Hey X8TEENX that wheel looks sweet.. I was looking at changing the rims on my FN2R.. Wanted to get The Lenso Type-M 19x8.5 but the guy at Bob Jane said that it wont fit on the car.. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Nax
12-08-2008, 10:09 AM
meh, i like the style of wheel deffinately, but not a big fan of the colors, im still torn on whether to get silver to make the car less black all over, or go blacks to make the car sorta stealth bomber look, im leaning a bit more towards a black rim at this stage.

have to admit they looked good on the lotus tho

X8TEENX
12-08-2008, 04:05 PM
wat is the offset of the rim entity_004? the original size is 7.5 and i think 8.0 would be good for FN2R.

some pic for the rims on my black dc5r
http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x101/x8teenx/DSC00092.jpg
was looking around other rims (forged, light weight, and normal) and this type of rims are perfectly fit wat my requirement: nice looking and good for performance.

for FN2R OEM 18 inch rim will definately feel the performance different after changing it.
PS: i had a normal 18 inch rims before and then after i change to this forged wheel, i found pick up is alot quicker. it's highly recommended to get a forged wheel, worth the money.

Nax
12-08-2008, 04:19 PM
so basically ur saying dont matter the style as long as i get a lightweight forged racing wheel

love that kit as well, makes the car look hell sexy with those wheels

when you go to the wheel shop, just say i need PCD 5X114.3, offset between 40 to 45,

dont listen to what the shop say whether fit or not,

the rims will fit i guarantee, even they say it wont

again, has anyone done light upgrades to xenons or anything similair? if so could u post some pics

and other then getting them imported, is there anywhere in aussie that makes kits/visual mods like blackout light casings etc?

im going for sorta a stealth look with the car

sitta
18-08-2008, 10:56 AM
xenon is easy to do, you can just get the lights of ebay for less than $200, installing it is pretty easy, should only take about 2 hours. You have to drill a hole in the cover for the cable that connect to the ballast and find a place in the engine bay to put the ballast ill post some pics tonight

we installed new rims already , we tried 9.5 wide for rear and it sticked out by 1 cm which over the plastic vender, and ade didnt want to raise the vehicle back so we have to get the same size wheel again,

it will fit, trust me
if the rear of the car hasnt been lower

Ninjadust77
01-09-2008, 01:15 PM
so ur saying the widest rims u can put on the FN2 are 8.5' - 9'?

bodaas
01-09-2008, 06:53 PM
i believe its hard to get rim 9" wide for just the rear,
unless its custom

usually the shop give you this rims set up
8.5" wide for the front and 9.5" wide for the rear or
8.5" wide for the front and back

if we can get 8.5" front and 9" rear that would be so perfect

and yes 9.5 would definately fit, with the right offset,
but you cant lower the car much, it'll touch the plastic that surround the wheel arc
i said it would fit because someone has put 9.5 wide on fn already

LD_Mart
01-09-2008, 07:58 PM
yeh 9.5 with +43 offset fits on the rear i had it on there with 20s to try it out..
i havent lowered my car though so thats why mine fits....
