My 3rd gear occasionally pops out, especially above 4k, anyone else experience this?
I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer, since I'm under warranty, will they consider the transmission service bulletin (http://automotivetech.org/at/acutsb.pdf) which was issued in the states for the rsx's?

Yeah it'll just pop out after you shift in to it. I used to get heavy 2nd gear grinding too, but switching the tranny fluid to royal purple fixed that. But had no affect on the 3rd gear popout :(

changing to a different tranny fluid does NOT fix any shifting issue it simply masks it. Get it looked at according to warranty or the service bulletin mentioned earlier.

Probably a similar issue to what the FN2R owners are experiencing.

is the same thing.
DC5r has the 2nd gear crunch.
With the K20z cars (DC5s and FN2r) the 2nd gear crunch has been fixed, but 3rd gear is a problem.
member "maracer" has recently put new shifter bushing and cable bushing in his DC5s with awesome results... might be worth looking into that.

I get a slight grind going from 1st to 2nd sometimes as well. With the 3rd pop out though, i have experiance the gear not going all the way in and u just gotta try again, once again its pretty rare. I've talked to honda about it under warranty and they said they cant see anything wrong with it. I drive a DC5S.

I’d have to say the bushes made a difference, I’m happier now:)

is it possible that u have a broken engine mount??? sometimes when u snap throttle in gear with a broken mount the force can sometimes pull the gear out.. another idea...

To get it covered under warranty is very difficult. The fault does not happen always and depends on how you are shifting. I took it into honda and they test drove it no issues... my frist shift leaving there it happend.... ><~ both 2nd and 3rd are known issues.. just gotta live with it i spose.

I would love to do that, but most probably will void my extended warranty and will cost a fair bit to pay someone to change it over for me ><!

Update:
I took it down to Honda today, showed them the TSB, hes like, "buddy you drive an integra this is for rsx". I showed him the RSX manual which i got with the car, he then went and made some calls (Honda Australia) I presume. Came back and told me Honda Australia agreed and he'll have to test drive it first.
He took it for a test drive and 4 out of 6 times it popped out. (I know my gearbox is ****ed). So now they have agreed to change the WHOLE tranny, which i think is great. However the parts will not arrive for another 3-4 weeks. So have to live with the pop-out till then :(
So if your gearbox is ****ed like mine, and your under warranty take it in they'll fix it.

get the mechanic to sit in the car with you and demonstrate the fault. if you "learn to live with it" now, you will miss out on a free fix and when it finally lets go you'll be paying for it

At this stage its almost impossible to demonstrate the issue as it only happens once in a blue moon. Second gear grind does happen once in a while, but sometimes it just never happens. Third issue only happens once every few weeks, gotta wait for it to get worse ><!
