View Full Version : Radiator silicone hoses
Hey, just wondering if there was a purpose in changing to silicone hoses? or is it just bling factor.

Bling + silicone doesnt flex, allowing the coolant to flow easier.

Of course it flexes. What I think your saying is: Manufacturers claim that it maintains its shape (does not colapse) during vacum under acceleration.

same principle as braided lines for example....they are made to not deform or expand under excess heat or pressure. they would last longer before deforming than say normal hoses.

yep.
usually when you have a blocked/seized thermostat combined with a 1.3bar radiator cap then the weakest points will be the first to expand and burst.. ie radiator hose....
the only reason i'd get one (ie gates racing) is coz these days aftermarket 'performance' parts are far cheaper than OEM.
