View Full Version : Wire going to fuse box shat itself --
hey guys, while i was driving yesterday to work. I started smelling something really funny coming from my engine, and smoke coming thru my bonnet vents. Then relised my fuse box was on fire, and the wire that was connected to it is now fried...
Can anyone tell me why this occurred? I havent played with anything in my engine besides the intake the nite before.
Any information would be appreciated!
cheers

A high resistance joint which didnt draw enough current to blow the main fuse,ie a bad connection at the fuse box or cut in the wire.
Or somebody put the wrong size(overrated) fuse in the engine bay fusebox to protect the wire.
yeah supposibly all the wiring is all burnt, replaced the fuse box already. Just making sure everything else is alright. Could taking my ground wires off be the problem?

It depends on which ground wires you took off. I reckon that you shouldn't take them off if you are in doubt seriously. They are there originally for a purpose. Taking off ground wires is like connecting an open circuit. Shorting the ground or opening a circuit can cause short circuit in your wiring system. I reckon that you should put them back if necessary.
My 2 cents
oh nah i had c-west grounding wires, took them out cause it looked messy.

oh...its grounding wires...that is okay.i believe that you have accidentally short one of the wires while removing your grounding wires.
