Hi guys,

need some help with regards to upgrading of front brakes for my EG ..running on GLi brakes (OMGWTH).

want to change to a bigger rotor ...say 262mm (EK4) or DC VtiR (don't know dimensions) and of course the respective calipers.

besides the upgrade of BMC and the pads....i want to know if i can just purchase the individual rotors and calipers...or do i have to get the entire knuckle ( is tat what u guys call it?)

thanks in advance.

afaik it should bolt on to the knuckles if you have the discs, calipers and brackets

but isn't the gli sporting rear drum brakes? you'd probably want to have a look at a rear disc conversion too

*corrected by ben* need the knuckles too

OP , you need new

front knuckles , calipers , discs and pads (L+R) , off a

EG6/DC2/DC4/EK1/EK4

these will result in improved brake performance , but go the next step and get the brake booster+master cylinder off the above cars to use too.
Last get disc rears (trailing arms , handbrake cables , discs , rotors , pads) from teh above cars too. Now you have the braking of the above cars.

wah wah wah...too many options...
i need a brake upgrade for the next circuitclub track day...so finding my options...and finding the best.

so for now ..we have

1) knuckle set + BMC and frens
2) type R (4x114.3 i presume) upgrade from a DC2R.

cool...time to go WTB section.

96spec is 4x114.3, which is the same size as ek4/dc2
98spec is 5x114.3, which is 282mm

if you already have the rear disc, your chances of finding 98spec dc2r calipers is actually higher than finding ek4/dc2 caliper

i got type r caliper on my eg,

and it's 4*100 PCD

all u need is the knuckle from either from EG6/DC2/DC4/EK1/EK4 from pair
type r caliper and rotor for 4*100,

it will fit, but need just little modfy

what's with the knuckle thing? can't juz retain my old knuckle, change the rotors (+ the 4x100 socket), change the caliper, BMC and done?

no because your standard knuckle isnt compatible (the mounting for a larger caliper is slightly smaller than required) so you need it as i mentioned as above.

hey mate,

i have an ITR BB and BMC and looking at the same upgrade for me EG.

IMO best solution is a set of EK1/4 knuckles and some new pads. Just like other people have said

totally diffferent front knuckle design - wont fit at all really. for the jazz look at perhaps even dc5 front suspension or knuckles - start a new thread in the jazz section :)
