My subwoofer makes a single deep pop sound whenever i change between tuner and cd. It's been doing this for as long as i can remember. I've never bothered finding out why cuz it still pumps like normal. But today I hooked up a pair of 6x9's and the the pop comes out of the speakers too.. And there's that all too common whine as well.

Anybody have any ideas why its doing this?

The RCA's are running along the passenger side, and Power running along the driver side.
Grounding for the amp is under the rear seats so its very close to the amp.

Amp is Clarion VNET 4150 (150x4RMS)
Sub is Clarion (dont know much bout it)
Speakers are Pioneer
Deck is Pioneer.

Help!

you got a bad earth, either on your head unit or your amp, check they are earthed properly to bear metal, failing that you have a ground loop problem, take a piece of wire and touch it the the outer part of the rca behind your deck (whilst its plugged in) then touch the other end to the chassis of the deck, turn your car (or do this while its running) and the whining and pop should be gone, i have people come in to my work with this problem and thats usually the first thing i do and 9/10 time it fixes it straight away, you'll need to fix the piece of wire some how, ive made up a heap of rca leads that i can just plug in in line with an extra earth coming out one end that i can attach to the back of the head unit, but yer, check your earths then do what i said if its still there, if your unclear on what i mean pm me and ill knock up some pictures so you can see exactly what i mean

bad wiring.... redoing the wiring that caused the issue in the first place would be better then adding band-aid solutions.

that jaycar thing wont help unfortunately, you need to check and re do your earths on your amps and head unit, then add the earth to the rca's, this should fix your problem (im 99% sure it will any way) that or your rca's are damaged along the line somewhere, but just do what i said first and if that doesn't fix it we'll move on to the next possible cause

It sound like the common Pioneer RCA Problem!

Most Pioneer decks have a little fuse built in near the RCA's and if its blows you get weird things and engine noise galore through your sound system. It normally blows if you hot swap the rca's when the unit is on.

Get it back to pioneer to repair the problem. It most likely be under warranty. Pioneer are a good company when it comes to warranty in general.

Hope this helps.
