we've all known what valve float is and the consequences, etc... this is the first time i've actually seen it in slow motion...
i cannot believe the retainers are rotating freely.. F*ck!

well.. is 13.8-13.7 worth it to you :p
that vid doesn't look like a severe case though.. i've yet to find one showing the rockers going back down before the springs get back up.. surely in that scenario the keepers would come lose and then dropped/bent valves lol.. well not really "lol" if it happens

thats a difficult question when it involves less than 1 sec of over rev & not knowing what hondas safety factors are on the motor & the pure fact that im just plain greedy, lol.

regardless of whether its a case of bind or float, wouldnt it be more about the fatigue like they say of all 3 components working abnormally to there original design purpose & opening up angles that are not just simply straight vertical anymore?
I think that's footage from a "Spintron" or similar gadget which the Nascar people use to try and get small block Chevies to spin to 9000RPM.
I think you'll find it is illuminated by a stroboscope so the camera only catches a single frame per revolution. Kinda like slow motion.
There's no denying the valve train is a miracle of engineering though.
Nick.

Absolutly! What an awsome idea. So simple, so affective. Who thought of the spring?
Ducati engines have had them for yonks now...
