how much money?
If it's just for street I wouldn't get them too hard, for my teg I was looking at jic
FLT-FAS's, buddy club N+ spec's or tein super street's.
I ended up going for the tein's, ordered some japs ones last week, but that's me.
It really depends on how much you want to spend and how hard you want you suspension .

i would recommend buddyclub n+, as you can set it as soft as stock, or get it stiff if you'd like..
i've heard that tein ss are good for street, but a bit too soft for people's liking..
MikeyG
16-08-2008, 02:46 AM
hmm i dont really like real stiff rides.. i do like some softness.. so its more comfort so yeah. TRIPITAKA may u pm me on places where i can get those buddyclub n+ coilovers please thank you
any more suggestions guys? help out :D

buddy club n+> tein ss
i know this dosent fit an ek but even
dc2r strut with king spring better then tein ss(have driven on dc2)!!!!!
markoJEK1
16-08-2008, 07:43 AM
yep, tein SS is really just for lowering your car imo, it is a stiffer then stock obviously, but if you have any tracking in mind, or even mountain driving I think they will disappoint you, I got a set on my car atm, and I cant wait to upgrade to buddyclud N spec or Race spec
GreekWarrior
16-08-2008, 09:57 AM
can't you just change the springs and get the shocks re-valved if they're too soft?
also just remember super stiff suspension doesn't equal good handling, quite often it's your tyres that ain't up to scratch.
MikeyG
16-08-2008, 01:22 PM
hmmm guys im understand that buddyclub n+ cant fit ek? is that correct?
if not where may i grab some please casue i know none of ozhonda traders sell them, so yeah a website or a place would be nice. thanks

They do fit eks mate, i think jdmyard sells them. Have a look there

having too stiff of suspension on street/mountain driving may even cause less handling/grip cos of bumps, if ur on track it doesnt have many or any bumps at all and the track suspension will be good but on street cos they so stiff, if u hit a bump ull lose traction (no shock travel i think thats wat they call it ?)
GreekWarrior
16-08-2008, 03:16 PM
^^^ yeah pretty much, couple that together with the fact that aussie roads are shit compared to japan roads, then it should be easy to understand why alot of jap coilovers are too hard for street use here

Don't be a softy go for some Tein Monoflex
xtercii
16-08-2008, 06:09 PM
I wouldn't get n+, they are stiff as and yet give you too much body roll...
my mate wanted to get one and I warned him about it but he didn't listen and now he full regrets it...
MikeyG

so whats a good coilovers for street as daily only?
tein ss or monoflex?
EGJOE

Whos got n+ in their ek? help this dude out tell him how they really are!
Most ppl I've met who have coilovers always end up wanting more control, it makes the daily commute more fun. Generally more control requires higher spring rates and stiff dampers along with other sussy parts.
I have a friend who owns an Ek and has buddy club n+ he is quite happy with them and is thinking of upgrading to racing spec. Racing spec is alot firmer though.
If you got to choose between ss and monoflex definitely the monoflex dont waste your time with ss.

dude again it depends on what you want, the tein mono's may be too hard for you or the tein ss may be too soft.
I'll let you know in acouple of weeks when I get my ss, I dunno about sydney but where I live in brissy the roads are shithouse.
and I'd look at jic's before buddy club N+

MikeyG, alot of the people who are posting here have rockl hard coilovers and anything less is soft.
I have used Tein SS, sure they are soft when required and moderately stiff if dialed up, but for STREET use, and to retain comfort, to me, these were a great street/sport system.
Remember why you are buying these and whom they are for - for you and ur comfort oriented bum hehhee
However, I haven't sat in BC N+ before, so my comparison above was to stock.

fightex FTW if ur gonna spend the cash might as well just do it once and do it right, prob the more expensive side of things but from what ive heard they r amazing, from memory made of aluminum so would be alot lighter then all the other steel competors and less susapatable (spelling off :P) to rust, they are a race sussy so would have all the adjustable damper and spring rates, but yeah id say they would be prob one of the best if not the best on the market. they r a Toda item if u didnt already know if u wanna go down that road OH has a toda rep in Traders sure he will be happy 2 help u out.
like sure the Tein, BC, JIC, HSD items are that of fine quality but u did ask what was the best :P not meaning 2 step on ne 1's toes either but just what i think

from what ive heard from people with buddyclub, if your going to go buddyclub dont go the N+ go the racing spec.. having said that according to their US webpage they have a new N+ coilover so dont know how much better it is from the old version if it is a newer version.

hold your horse MikeyG.. i'd say get the Tein Flex. It's like SuperStreet but dual adjustable and offers better handling.
i've ridden on cars with n+ and flex. imho i'd get the tein because it's japan. bc is taiwan and it just came out of the blue.. tein has been there for a long time. plus the pricing is almost the same.. so which one would u choose?
sorry bc fans. dont mean any harm. peace.

I think you are getting confused with Buddy Club and BC
they are different companies buddyclub offers the n+ and the racing spec while BC is something totally different.
Buddyclub = Japan
BC = Taiwan

I have seen damping curves for the Buddy Club Racing Spec dampers and they look damn good. No experience with the N+ though...
Also, with the Tein Monoflex vs Flex vs Super Street, I would pick the Monoflex every time. The Monoflex is a monotube damper which means they are less susceptible to cavitation and emulsification, they have a higher heat capacity, and they conduct heat to the atmosphere better, so they take longer to fade. They also run a larger piston so damping is more subtle to small movements. The monoflex also use a bleed adjuster instead of a preload adjuster like the Flex and Super Streets, so it mostly works for the low speed (read useful) range of shock movements.
They are a far superior shock, but whether or not you can utilise this or not is another question.
At least their good for guard rolling ;)hehehe
They're good for winning to... :D

i've so far have kept them to the softest setting and still holds hard corners very very well...
cant complain!

ive got N+ in my EK. lowers the car to a decent height, more than tein SS i believe. can be set quite soft or rock hard. if ur worried about body roll invest in sway bars. coilovers wont fix it.

du if u can go from parra rd from auburn to flemington with the coilovers that would be nice :D
ill take up that challenge
ive got N+ in my EK. lowers the car to a decent height, more than tein SS i believe. can be set quite soft or rock hard. if ur worried about body roll invest in sway bars. coilovers wont fix it.
my coil overs took out heaps of the body roll.. more noticeable comparing them to my 22mm rsb setup.
springs + standard shocks = not much of a difference in body roll
springs + standard shocks + 22mm rsb = a big change.. less body roll
tein HA + 22mm rsb = same shit really abit more stiff but similiar body roll
tein monoflex + 22mm rsb = ALOT less body roll more noticeable once the new coil overs were installed less stiff.. spring rate is perfect..
so pretty much if you find a very good set of coils.. i find upgrading the sway to a 22mm one wouldn't be very noticeable.
all in all i reckon if i took outmy sway bar there wouldnt be much of a change..
and ive played around with the height settings aswell.. from normal hieght to very low not much of a difference in handling.
thats my experience anyways.
