hey guys.
i recently just bought a Fujita Cold Air Intake System and i'm stuck.
The problem is the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor).
i'll let the pictures do the talking.

lol! Round plug, square hole = not good.

You'll need to seal off the whole square so that no air can get through, then mount the MAF somehow. A flat plate of aluminium will do just fine.

BTW, that is not a MAF sensor. That is the IAT sensor.

Did you order the correct fujita part?

i am not sure. Someone from euro forum had possibly the same problem. Have a look and see if it helps...

You don't have a MAF sensor. All you have is a MAP sensor which is on the intake manifold. IAT = intake air temperature.

any recommendations on what i should do?
do i need that sensor then? or should i try to get a cai without maf?

Not the same problem. That one was just the coolant lines needing rerouting. You can see in the pics for that thread that the IAT sensor connects to the first port closest to the throttle body, which should be the same for the CM5. That's why I suspect that this fujita CAI might not be for CM5. Maybe for the 2.0L version? Even if that port was round and not square, the IAT sensor's wiring is not long enough to reach it.

not its for the CM5..hahahaha can i just cover up that area which is needed for the MAF sensor? or am i able to just plug my iat sensor there and cover it up

You can block the square port with a plate and gasket. But you still need to port a hole for the IAT and that will take $$$ as you can't just drill a hole to stick the IAT in.

Are the bends in this CM5 CAI different to the CL9's model?

im hoping to find that out tomorrow.
so theres pretty much no way for that cai to fit on my car? :(

How many ports are there in the CAI that you have? 2 ports + the rectangle slot? If that's it, then it won't be cheap to modify it. I'd try to compare with the CL9 pipe to see if the bends are the same, or if it will fit the CM5.

yeah two plugs and the square slot. can i just use the IAT plug and put it into the square bit? and just use rubber + metal to seal the other half?

I don't see why not. I'd get a metal plate with a hole the same size as the IAT instead. Is the IAT wiring long enough to reach the square slot?

yeap.
ill have to speak with the trader to see what he can do...
im thinking the CL9 intake might work...test fitted the pipe and everthing was
alligned. airbox looked exactly the same.

thanks for your help guys

okay so i have a new problem.
i went to put on the cai today
how i solved the retangular hole was easy
bought a sheet of metal and cut it to size.
drilled a hole for the IAT plug and to stop
air from going out, used some rubber between the cai and the plate.

the oem wiring for the IAT plug was not long enough to reach the
cai, so i spliced it, and added more wiring so it could reach the distance.

after four hours of work it was done
time to give it a test drive (did it at a friend place & i had to go home)
and to my shock my malfunction indicator lamp lit up.
so i read the manual and it said i shouldn't take it to WOT and should
see dealer asap.

Use an OBDII code reader to find out what code it is.

Could be an error from your IAT if you didn't solder the extension properly.

but use the OBDII reader.

as aaron has said it could be your solder joints not done properly, or are understress, recheck your soldering and check that no wires are shorting each other.

Google "OBDII reader" and you'll see what it is. Connects to the port underneath the coin holder area.

The light will turn off but the code is still stored in there. The light would most probably come back on after a while. Let us know if it does turn back on.

It looks like the IAT sensor is not in far enough so it's not getting a true reading. Re-do your plate so the sensor is further into the new pipe making sure the tip is exposed to air flowing through the new pipe and give it another test.

In or out, the difference should only be a few degrees C, which shouldn't trigger a CEL. Instead of putting it deeper, maybe he needs some sort of insulation between the metal part and the sensor.
