My car was hit from behind, just slightly... but I can get a new bar on insurance so what is the best bar for my 96 EK1 Civic sedan please? I understand the 99-00 facelift/pre-facelift 96-98 for the front end but not the rear.

pretty sure the rear end stayed the same

The pre-face lift and face lifted rear bar are slightly different. For example, the pre-facelift rear bar has thous black plastic strips on the corners.

The fitment i'm not 100% sure, I think it may be slightly different.

aren't those optional?

Cheers,I can't decide if it will look better with or without the strips...since my car has them on the front and sides.

any 96-00 coupe and sedan rear bars will fit, they are interchangeable.

just the hatch rear bars wont fit.

i would personally go for the coupe rear bars or the 99-00 sedan rear bar because they don't have the black strips on them, but it's up to you.

hope this information helps you enough to make your decision.

EJ8s are only from 96-98, bit hard to come by from my expirence, hell any coupe panels are. The cost for wreckers are 220 respectively for each bit, otherwise Honda is around 500 mark for a newy. But the nice people at Southside Honda have assured me that the coupe and sedan are different bars, well to the VINs anyhow, altho I havent checked personally. I wanted to get an EM1 bumper for my lip and thought hell why not a sedan as theyre around everywhere in the wreckers, but I got fed up with no one knowing and ended up retro fitting the EM1 lip to the EJ8 bar, lol

Yes, the side skirts I bought new for a good deal for the Si model, and we were going to buy the thin side mouldings but ended up finding a great paint that can be applied to that type of plastic without the peeling effect of other paints so we did that.

Thanks mate, just need to finish off a few things needs a timing belt now lol (sigh) lol

We're overdue for a meet up, you coming out to the cruise end of the month?

Oh yeah,is there a thread for the meet?

Did U paint the stips yourself? nice.

Have you done a timing belt before? It's like anything, once you do it a couple of times with somebody your right.

Yea, the meet thread is http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95634 come along for some fun

The strips were done in the body shop

Yea, I was goin to have a go doin the timing belt, looks like a fun project for when I have time off, oem parts from the dealer were under 90 so it looks ok. Altho may need to borrow an air wrench from what I've heard

Yeah,ECU Man's (John) meathod obviously works,a braker bar and some muscle.I used an air gun at my my mechanics to get that darn crank pulley bolt out.

there is a company that makes replicas of them, but a genuine one at a wreckers isn't around in QLD, I tried just the other day, the going rate if there is one is $220 second hand in great condition
