Hi all
I've got I/H/E and want my dc5r tuned. Most threads here are about Hondata, but my ecu isnt compatable with it. I approached a reputable garage, and was told Powerfc doesnt do DC5r..
So what are my options? Motech and Autronic i read somewhere was pretty expensive and sounded overkill for my applications.

And please dont suggest getting a compatable ecu for the hondata..

Advice welcome

Really? Whats the part number off the ecu? PRB?

GReddy now have a new one that can control the iVTEC :)

Cant remember the part number, but theres supposed to be two types of chips, one with the letter 'Q' and one without. Mine was the incompatablie one :(

My ecu is not compatible with hondata..

I've been to that forum. Most of the threads are on Hondata.

Not all AUDM DC5R ecu's can be kpro'd.

There was a batch of poorly made ones which had a crap ecu board on it made in taiwan or something off memory.

Only ones that can be kpro'd are the ones with the L66Q592 processor ECU’s.

You can use the JDM DC5R or EP3R ecu and kpro that but they usually dont have immobiliser.

I would highly recommend the Kpro over any other ecu like Mugen, Spoon, J's racing etc as it can be tuned to suit your cars mods, not the mods mapped on the ecu.

I would PM toda_au. I'm pretty sure he's tune quite a few DC5R & S, with Hondata.
If not why not buy another DC5R ecu and hondata that?

I agree with Chi's comments

If you're after a Hondata you can always look at purchasing a separate ECU instead of just using the one thats in your car.

Good idea, later down the track when you sell your car it makes it so much easier to take out the kpro'd ecu and put in your stock one and sell it off.

Instead of doing a trade for your stock ecu etc.

Since you cannot trade with stock ecu's from AUDM DC5's because of teh immobiliser.

If you want the immobiliser function, buy the keys, immobiliser reader and ecu as a set.

If you want the immobiliser function, you can also take your car into Honda with the new ECU and get them to reprogram your keys/immobiliser to the new ECU.

So if i can buy a AUDM dc5r ecu and Hondata, I'd have to reprogram the key, then tune. Sound expensive. how much to reprogram?

Anyone know where i can source a new ecu and how much?

problem solved. bought ecu+hondata off fatboyz39. Thanks dude!

Got another question. changing ecu loses immobiliser? Does it affect the central locking aswell?

You don't have to reprogram the immobilizer; you can run with it disabled from within Kpro. I can't remember how much exactly but I think it was $110 to reprogram each key the last time I checked.

Nice work on the purchase. Make sure you have a go and learn how to tune it yourself
