Hey guys, just a noob question here. Which gearbox would be better for a B16a.
Cheers.

hydro of course. More precise with the rods.

Sweet, thought so. I've got a cable one in right now and apparantly 3rd gear would crunch if i shift too quick. I have been quoted 1200 for a hydro gearbox. Is that an ok price or am i being ripped off?

I can't see that the type of shifter will cause "crunching", that will be weak synchro.
"More precise with rods"? Maybe, but a lot depends on the bushes. MY CB7 has a cable shifter, and in stock form at each end of the cables is a fairly soft rubber bush (at the shifter and at the levers on the box). I've replaced the rubber bushers with metal ones (only on the cable that controls longitudinal shifts, i.e. from 1st to 2nd and back, from 3rd to 4th etc), and the shift is now much more "precise". I can now feel the metal bits inside the box (engaging / disengaging) through the shift lever, whereas before it felt quite 'rubbery'.
