hey guys, need some opinion of what could be the fault.
Ek4 b16a engine. On the right hand side of the engine where the belts/pulleys are, ive noticed a really light grinding sound (maybe like a blender but not as loud). Cant always hear it but most of the time you can hear it. What could it be?

Bearings in the water pump? It does sound like grinding.
Mine has this problem and it's a NEW water pump DAMMIT!
On mine it's happens at 1500 rpm.

yeah i wouldnt have a clue, i opened my bonnet with the engine on idle, the noise is coming between the rocker cover and the power steering fluid reservoir. somewhere around the belts and pulleys. I have yet to take it to the mechanic as i only found out today and want to have an indication of whats wrong first.

Best to take it to a mechanic, unless you can post up a video :)

it'll be a bearing in one of the pullys or water pump

its the AC tensioner, check that out.
loosen the belt and start the car, and check if the noise is still there

ope your bonnet with the engine idling , rev the motor with your giner on teh throttle cable...slowly. does the noise increase as rpms increase ?
turn on your ac - does te noise get worse or disappear as the ac is engaged ?

ill say the clutch or bearing on the AC motor...but this is impossible to diagnose over the internet.
take it to a mech.

i'll take it to the mechanic soon and see what they say. hope its nothing major

Yeah check all belt tension.
My dad's mazda had a weird squealing and slight grinding noise and it was just belt tension.

even more strange i went to hannys they said the noise is coming from around the CAM gears and timing belt and then he goes nothing serious you can keep driving. the day after that the noise has disappeared.
