View Full Version : [SA] Interstate Transport
So im 90% sure im gonna buy a car from the ACT, but im a bit worried not only about transport but also about regency.
Its a DC2, follow the link to see the car
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/HONDA/INTEGRA/details.aspx?Cr=17&State=All%20States&R=5530575&state_id=0&__No=60&__N=4294965322%200%2042%20463%20412%20512%20429496 5105%201216%20834%20285%20257&silo=1003&distance=25&PriceMin=7500&__Ns=pCar_PrivateSpecialFlag_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_I mageCount_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_LastModifiedDate_Dat eTime%7c1&trecs=120&__Nne=20&seot=0&PriceMax=20000&__sid=11BB79FE7133&Model=INTEGRA&Make=HONDA
As you can see its been fairly well modified, kits, halo lights etc, so im just wondering if im getting the car am i going to get it back here and have to take it in to get rego etc and find out they are going to defect everything on it and ill be stuck with a stock car? All the mods are legal (not too low, tires not too big etc) but the lights arent stock.
Im just wondering if anyone has stories, tips, advice, or experience in this and could help me out a bit with a good transporter and anything else i need to do.
thanks

that car is pretty low.... to pass regency that car would need to be jacked up, 18" wheels are illegal on a dc2, vafc removed, has the engine been reported to the rta? might be a stolen engine????
btw seems like the car has been in an accident thats why the change of steering wheel.
its illegal to have a non air bag wheel on a car that came out factory.
wats the biggest wheel i can get on a dc2? because i looked at one in sa that had 18s and they said it had been checked and cirtified.
same question for the lowering, how high does it have to be? i dont think it looks much lower then alot ive seen, including ur white one, its got a good 4 inches clearance ide say, but u might be right
and is it possible to get a new steering wheel with the bag?
wats a vafc...noob sorry
engine was just swapped over, seems like alot of the integras for sale have it

legally its 17". 2" size up from standard.
that car is not lowered by much but the bodykit makes it low(id put standard springs on to be safe)
steering wheel can buy
vafc = vtec control is illegal - its fine on the streets but u are goin into the pits.
i know engine is a swapover but last owner would need to report new engine number to their road authority.
last but not least u've seen my car???
PS is this Tri?
isnt that ur white int <<< lol
i talked to him about the steering wheel, says that it is legal as it didnt have airbags to start with? (1994)
says its been lowered 1.5" from standard and has been checked, never been defected in 3 years
with the vtec control, if i didnt take it to the pits, is it somethign that a fuzz could pick up on pretty easily?
with the 18s, how likely is it for a cop to defect on an extra inch? cuz ive seen alot online that have 18s also
and i assume its not tri as i dont know a tri, im adam lol
and when bringing a car in from interstate is it a MUST to take it to the pits or can i just rego it and go

thats not my car... but ive got a white one tho
i 100% sure that all dc2 came with airbags (my old 93vtir had airbags)
its not the fact that its only lowered 1.5". its the lowest point to the ground thats where they will defect you. different state has different rules. but because you will need to go to regency this car will need to be jacked up. its up to you if you want to lower it again. - same as vtec control and 18". up to you if you want it refit it but cops can defect you on the streets if they want to.
but to get the car into your name u would need to go into regency so ur car would need to be jacked up, smaller wheels, steeringwheel, engine reported (assuming they havent done it), vtec control remove (can be hided but its ur call), maybe exhaust be too loud?,
and adam playing ball with chinga thai sok cup and others
no adam, new to everything havnt been on a cruise yet but lookin forward to it and wont be going to dyno day as its on saturday and i work then adam lol.
wats the absolute lowest the car can be legally? ill get him to measure it for me tonite,
checked, ya its supposed to have airbag, dont know if hes bullshittin or just didnt know but said has no accident history
how much would i be looking at to have all that stuff corrected to it?

dunno the lowest point but remember that when u get smaller wheels the car would drop a little bit more. just call up regency and check whether if the car has been in an accident or in any finance.
you would need rego, vin and engine number - but then again new engine number might not be reported yet.
your call
and im not adam
no im adam, u asked if i was the adam who balled with those guys, i was saying no, im a different adam lol
sounds to me like im better off taking the car in sa for 15000 (tho the chassis has done 210, engine half that) then the one in act for 13000 with 157ks, cuz ill end up having to pay for shipping and all the other stuff aswell, blargfook
if i buy in SA do i still have to take it thro regency??

why don't you call your local road traffic authority.
you'll get all your answers in 5 minutes
thats a valid point, but i also wanted personal experiences like, i did this to mine and was fine, or i did this and got screwed etc etc. so far its turning otu to be easier to buy locally and probably cheaper

I bought my car stock from Melbourne, took it to Regency and no probs obviously, they commented on the tint and that's all.
My friend got his modified Supra defected for ride height recently, went to Regency got a nice inspector and no probs, meanwhile the bloke in the other bay got a picky inspector and got done bad.
I'd only take a stock car through Regency personally
ya stuff it im buyin locally, after all the stuff ide have to undo and redo its not worth the extra 1k off. oh wells
