anything over 1k is inclusive of tax.
the tax is calculated from part value, shipment tax value and also handling fee.
read the guidelines from customs website, and you can get an approximation.

No. %10 + %15 does not equal %10.
At worse %25, at best over %10

Here is a sample template on how import tax worked, using the same calculation which was used for my Tein MFP.
^hey

cuz i want one too lol got quoted TC 10SN
he replied
(Hi,
WedsSport TC105N
18 x 7.5 is not available in this model.
18 x 8.0 Bolt 5/114.3 ET42 (7.3Kg.)
Price: AU $1,940 /Set of Four
Shipping Estimate;
By Economy Air : AU $550 (waiting 1 - 1.5 month)
We ship directly from Japan.
Thanks,
Kong.)
assuming your scenario,
Total Customs Value = $1940
Total Duty Payable (10% of customs value) = $194
Total GST Payable (10% of Total of Customs Value + Duty Payable + Shipping/Insurance Cost) = 10% x ($1940 + $194 + $550) = $268.40
Declaration Processing Charge (Fixed amount charged) = $48.85
Total Payable = Customs Value + Duty Payable + GST Payable + Declaration Processing Charge = $511.25
in addition to your $1940 and $550 shipping.
Total you will spend would be $3001.25.
Please note this is rough a estimation and due to economic changes or commercial amendments in costs or process, will not be held against my calculation. Only for insight on the costs you will be required to pay.

It frustrates me that Australia still does not have a free trade agreement with Japan. I could've saved thousands in duties over the past few months. :thumbdwn:
